Problems on recent versions of Wine - MS Office 2000 and Shockwave
I don't make that much use of Wine but do sometimes need real MS Word,
and sometimes like to play some of the games on the shockwave.com site.
However, there have been a number of upgrades recently to Wine and these
have now stopped working with the following symptoms:

Running applications from an existing install says "This application must

interview request for ppl who have Shockwave/.Firefox working
For a long time now I've wanted to be able to watch videos. I've done
the "try this!" and "try that!" method and it hasn't worked well. So
I'm wondering if anyone running CentOS 5.5 has Shockwave on Firefox working.
Currently it works for me with short videos-- up to two or three minutes
long. However, when Shockwave is enabled, CPU usage jumps to 99%,

Wine 1.0 release date to clash with Firefox 3
According to http://wiki.winehq.org/WineReleasePlan the new release date for Wine 1.0 is set to June 17.
However the Firefox 3.0 release date is also set to June 17.
http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/index.php/2008/06/11/coming-tuesday-june-17th-firefox-3/
Their release is planned to be high profile and they even plan to set a Guinness world record for downloads in a single day!

MS Office 2000, and Shockwave, under wine 0.9.1
There was a time when I managed to get Office 2000 (or those parts of it
I wanted) and Shockwave both installed in wine, using winetools.
However, under later versions, that is not suitable.
I am wondering if anyone has yet succeeded.
My specific problems:
Office installer: when I get to the part where I choose the required
components, the icon to indicate the installation type selected for

flash plugin
How do I get a flash plugin to work with firefox?
I thought that I installed it correctly,
but I have yet to see any flash videos through firefox.
I keep being told that I need an additional plugin.
When I folow directions, I'm told I already have it?
At least once, I was told I needed to upgrade.
In case it helps, here is the output of
yum provides '*flash*' | grep -e lash -e dobe

Problem again with shockwave, or flash player (I think)...
Hi there,
OK I thought I had this problem solved last week. Last week with help from this list, we installed the flash player on my Centos 5 desktop machine.
But now when I go to cnbc, I am getting that same problem when trying to view vids on their site. So I click the icon where the empty video frame is to install the plugin, the "no suitable plugins were found" box come comes up

Flash, Shockwave, 3dVia plugins
Firstly, I apologise for the blatant help me nature of this question but time is really against me and I wondered if any experienced Linux/Wine users would be able to give me some basic pointers from their own experiences.
I have built 2 very budget PCs for my kids (8+5) running Ubuntu 10.04 x32. Both have good Nvidia graphics and can play HD video. In fact everything is tip top apart from Web

Shockwave - any progress?
I have achieved much of what I wanted to achieve using Wine, with one
exception. I was hoping to be able to use Shockwave content, but despite
installing Firefox and the Shockwave plugin, it does not work - it seems
to stop after the promotional film before the actual requested content.
I know there are "pay" solutions to this problem, but was wondering if
anyone had found a free

A Macromedia Shockwave Flash-based Ogg player?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I'm looking for an Ogg/Vorbis player in Macromedia Flash, for embedding into webpages.
I discovered a Java-based player but it's a non-starter. If people have to install things, it's over. They already have flash because almost every website on the damned Internet requires it these days.

Can Shockwave apps run w/o Codeweaver's Crossover product?
My daughter likes to play games on noggin.com and nickjr.com. The
problem is that some of them will play with Flash 9, which I have
installed, but many require Shockwave, which doesn't exist for Linux.
Is there any way to get a shockwave plugin to work with Firefox 2.0 and
a 2.6.x kernel. My daughter would really appreciate it, and so would I!

Adobe Flash Install Woes
I am having a hell of a time getting adobe flash to work on a recent 5.2

How to tell whether Shockwave is installed?
I'm trying to get the Windows/Mac application Lexialearning to run under mint linux (elyssa). I installed Wine 1.0, installed Lexia, tried to run it. It wanted Shockwave. Adobe won't let me have shockwave because I don't have a browser they support, but I got the installer (for shockwave 11) from download.com. I ran the installation program, it asked what language I want to use

Shockwave Flash player for CentOS
Hey,
I am using CentOS-3 as a desktop distribution. With
the exception of fewer red hats and some different
logos, it looks exactly like RedHat 9 to me.
The problem is some web sites do not work right, as
there is no Shockwave Flash player and Java support
seems to be a problem. For some web sites, I have to
used Windows.
I prefer not to download and install something that

Any way to use shockwave/etc as a plugin to opera/firefox?
subject says most.. I DO have ie working with shockwave, it's just that
it's a bit slow... i suspect native opera and native firefox will be
faster if wine only have to emulate the shockwave/windows plugin part?
How would i go about making this reality? i know that konqueror has this
functionality? i don't want to use konqueror though...
Thanks.
