dxdiag - exits without success
Hi there. I'm trying to turn on DirectX in Wine. (please read whole message, and only after that blamming me). Recently, I've used Gentoo and it's Wine. But after that, I switched to Fedora and start using Fedora's Wine. Some programs load successfully, but not DirectX. As I said before, everything was normal in Gentoo, but not in Fedora. (for both I have amd64 (x86_64) arch).

NWN2 - "could not find any compatible Direct3D devices'
I've tried to get NWN2 (patched to v. 1131409) running with wine 1.1.3 on debian lenny (2.6.25 amd64). I followed the instructions at the appdb, but all i get is the error message "could not find any compatible Direct3D devices"... the devenum.dll and dxdiag.dll weren't present at my wine 1.1.3 install, so i took them from an 1.1.1 installlation, but nothing changed... did

Radeon 4800 or Ati in general viable for wine?
Longtime lurker and user of wine, but I'm about to replace my old nvidia card with a newer model and seeing as Ati is open sourcing their drivers. I was wondering if I should get a 4800 card, but only if the fglrx or x86-radeon driver is up to the task :) Like can it run direct3d 9 games like Eve? How about 2d performance in games like fallout 2 and planescape torment?

Error running Guild Wars with .9.3
Hello all, I gave this a stab a few months ago but gave up and just set up a dual boot. I'm running low on disk space now and tired of messing with the muliple partitions, so I'm giving it another go to get Guild Wars running in Linux. I'm runing Wine 0.9.3 on Kubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake). I'm able to go through the instillation without issue, but when it actually tries to

AMD/ATI or Nvidia
How well do AMD Radeon cards run on Wine now? From past experience, I wasn't able to get as many games to run with an ATI Radeon compared to Nvidia.

Testing basic direct x capability
Hi, I am running wine 0.9.58 and having problems running Counter Strike: Source, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. I think this is caused by the direct x layer in wine. My system runs opengl programs fine using the ATI driver (Radeon 3850). Is there any way I can test directx functionality without having to download a game? Dxdiag.exe is not included in wine. Best regards, Chris

DxDiag not working - Wine 1.1.35 + Ubuntu 9.10
wine dxdiag.exe spews a few fixme messages (Related to ALSA drivers) and then exits. No Window, no error messages. Till now, this wasn't a problem (several games ran fine) but when I tried installing a legacy game (Grand Prix World by Microprose), it could not detect my graphics card. Tried DxDiag but it isnt working. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

Why doesn't Portal with Wine with the radeon driver work?
I am using Wine 1.2 which I compiled on Debian testing/wheezy. It works with fglrx but not with the radeon driver. I am using the AMD/ATI HD4850 video card. The following terminal output shows the wine error and that the radeon driver has OpenGL 2.1 support which to my understanding is at least the equivalent of Direct3D 9 (which is all I need). Also, there is a wine popup for every attempt to run

ATI (rv350) + open-source driver + wine gaming issues
Hello everyone. I seem to have a bit of a problem running some 3D accelerated games under wine, while using the open-source ATI Radeon driver. My graphics card is Radeon 9700, and the open-source drivers overall work much better than the proprietary fglrx. The fglrx driver allows me (in most cases) to run games like Temple of Elemental Evil (particularily) or Morrowind normally, but I can't

[LLVMdev] [GSoC] "Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend" proposal
Here's the other of my proposals for this year's Google Summer of Code. (The first is on cfe-dev.) It was suggested to me by Dan Kegel (from the Wine project, they really want this). Title: Microsoft Direct3D shader bytecode backend Abstract: There is a distinct lack of open-source frameworks for compiling HLSL, the shader language used by Direct3D, into bytecode that D3D can

Direct3D missing?
I was going through wine's registry trying to optimize a few things, but then i noticed my HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D directory was missing. It stops at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\ . . . . Does anyone know why this is or how i can fix the problem? I am running the latest version of wine on Ubuntu 8.04. I really would like to be able to change my graphics settings......

First-time wine user, having problems with Direct3D and EE2
I'm a first time wine user, though long time Linux user, so excuse me if my question is documented somewhere. I've searched, here and google without success thus far. Looking through AppDB, I noticed that EE2 (Empire Earth 2) seems to work well with wine, so I decided to try this as my first attempt to use wine. Unfortunately, I get the following errors: "Failed to create Direct3D

CentOS 7 on Dell Inspiron with ATI Radeon HD 6320 video card
Hi, I'm currently installing CentOS 7 on a client's Dell Inspiron laptop. Here's the video card: # lspci | grep -i vga 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wrestler [Radeon HD 6320] Most of the time, I either have to deal with Intel or NVidia graphic chipsets. As far as I understand, I can choose either the free 'radeon' driver or the
