Samba as PDC for WinXP, Win9
Simon, What version of Windows XP are you using? If your client has purchased computers from Best Buy or a similar electronics "mega-store" they likely received WinXP Home Edition. (Which is what it sounds like based upon the use of Win9x machines you mentioned.) If that is the case, then you will be unable to get the WinXP machines to see the Samba Server (or a Windows

Does the rsync/xdelta algorithm *need* to write a new file?
Hello, lately I've been playing with the idea of doing in-place updates of systems using either rsync or xdelta. However, both rsync and xdelta seem to be dead set on writing a new file first, and then atomically exchanging it with the old file. Now, as I want to apply a binary delta to a full filesystem, bigger than the available temporary space, this really makes rsync and xdelta

Does Huawei break the license of CentOS?
Hello, CentOS team and everyone who cares about CentOS, Huawei release an Euler OS, which is an distribution based on CentOS. http://developer.huawei.com/ict/en/site-euleros/euleros-introduction According to CentOS's statement, CentOS is distributed under the GPLv2 License. http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7.4.1708/os/x86_64/EULA The GPL license requires the modified version to be

vsifax on Centos 5.1
All.... I am trying to install vsifax on a 64 bit Centos 5.1 system. The Esker staff have been helpful but no cigar. At first they thought the problem might be related to a 64 bit machine so I tried to install vsifax on a 32 bit Centos 5.1 machine and received the same error. One of their installation scripts is trying to execute a binary called eula which fails. ./eula: cannot execute

Does Huawei break the license of CentOS?
Hello, Peter, thanks for your reply 1. Huawei DOES change the distribution EULA, if type in the following command: vi /usr/share/eula/eula.en_US you can see it changed to "HUAWEI EulerOS-2.0" which is a copyright one, let alone original GPL license. According to CentOS Linux EULA The Distribution is released as GPLv2. Individual packages in the distribution come with their own

Centos 7 License???
Today I did a yum upgrade to my kvm'ized Centos 7 test machine (perhaps a bad day to do such a thing) and received new kernel vmlinuz-3.10.0-229.1.2.el7.x86_64, among many other things. When I rebooted, I was asked to confirm (or renew, or some such) my license. My LICENSE ??? I was booting in text mode and the actions required were a) unfamiliar, and b) hard to understand. As I recall, I

Discrimination and calibration of Cox model
I have been working on fitting Cox model for prediction by using rms package. I want to measure model's calibartion and discrimination. Discrimination was measured by using validate() in rms, Dxy can be transferred to Harrell's c index. But in this way, I cannot get 95%CI of c index. How can I do this in R? And by the way, what value should be in c index to present the model's well?

validation, calibration and Design
Hi R experts, I am trying to do a prognostic model validation study, using cancer survival data. There are 2 data sets - 1500 cases used to develop a nomogram, and another of 800 cases used as an independent validation cohort. I have validated the nomogram in the original data (easy with the Design tools), and then want to show that it also has good results with the independent data using 60

logistic discrimination: which chance performance??
Hello, I am using logistic discriminant analysis to check whether a known classification Yobs can be predicted by few continuous variables X. What I do is to predict class probabilities with multinom() in nnet(), obtaining a predicted classification Ypred and then compute the percentage P(obs) of objects classified the same in Yobs and Ypred. My problem now is to figure out whether P(obs) is

samba4 PDC to BDC file replication
Hi, I have built two samba4 boxes, one as a PDC and the as a DC, all working perfectly. If I create a user through the mmc snapin then turn off the PDC, I can still login to the domain using the DC which is great. The problem is their files and ntfs permissions on BDC. I have assigned user and group rights using windows explorer to certain folders, i.e granted user1 full permissions to that

net classification improvement?
Greetings, I have generated several ROC curves and would like to compare the AUCs. The data are cross sectional and the outcomes are binary. I am testing which of several models provide the best discrimination. Would it be most appropriate to report AUC with 95% CI's? I have been looking in to the "net reclassification improvement" (see below for reference) but thus far I can only

R: net reclassification index after Cox survival analysis
Dear all, I am interested to evaluate reclassification using net reclassification improvement and Integrated Discrimination Index IDI after survival analysis (Cox proportional hazards using stcox). I search a R package or a R code that specifically addresses the categorical NRI for time-to-event data in the presence of censored observation and, if possible, at different follow-up time points. I

Updated Grandstream configurator
The most recent version of GSConfigure is available at www.buffalo.edu/~sbesch Several serious bugs that kept the program from getting started have been ferreted out and corrected with the help of Bruce Komito. The program is now actually running on someone's machine other than mine. I have built this version with the oldest copies of the system dll's that I could find inn an effort

Using Centos
We need to resell systems that run commercial software on Linux. We were using Red Hat ES 3 originally. But we later realize that we cannot redistribute RHES without paying them huge subscription fee because of the trademark. I came across CentOS from WBEL mailing list. This looks like a godsend to me. I have some questions regarding CentOS. I would appreciate it if someone can provide me the

predictive accuracy
I am trying to develop a prognostic model using logistic regression. I built a full , approximate models with the use of penalization - design package. Also, I tried Chi-square criteria, step-down techniques. Used BS for model validation. The main purpose is to develop a predictive model for future patient population. One of the strong predictor pertains to the study design and would not

NRI or IDI for survival data - Hmisc package
Hi, I am trying to calculate net reclassification improvement (NRI) and Inegrated Discrimination Improvement (IDI) for a survival dataset to compare 2 risk models. It seems that the improveProb() in Hmisc package does this only for binary outcome, while rcorrp.cens() does take survival object, but doesn't output NRI or IDI. Can anyone suggest any other packages that can calculate NRI and IDI

ACPI, Vista and Xen
Hi all, I''m running XP and 2003 Server fine as HVM guests (under a 32 bit non-pae Xen 3.0.3 self-compiled). I''ve read that Vista can *not* be /installed/ under Xen for it checks for ACPI support and install fails if it isn''t present. What if I do the install first from, say, plain Qemu (I''re reused qemu images from Xen) or VMWare (I''ve converted
