Maxon's Cinema4D Net Client debugging messages
Hi, I'm trying to run Maxon's Cinema4D Net Client (a 3D rendering software) with today's CVS-version of wine configured w/o any options, which does not work at all. Other Windows software, such as Puttyor Winzip runs just fine (haven't tried anything else). With the C4D client, without debugging turned on, only a simple "Internal error: String resource not found!" pops

ZFS pool not imported on boot on Solaris Xen PV DomU
Hi, I am trying a setup with a Linux Xen Dom0 on which runs an OpenSolaris 2008.05 DomU. I have 8 hard disk partitions that I exported to the DomU (they are visible as c4d[1-8]p0) I have created a raidz2 pool on these virtual disks. Now, if I shutdown the system and I start it again, the pool is not automatically imported during the boot. If I type zpool status, I can''t see it, so I do a

Just another syntax question
Drag list order I have an ''each do'' loop iterating through the results of an ''ordered'' ''DB.find'' . It appears that regardless of the order of the ''find'', the ''each do'' loop serves it up and displays in the order of the ''DB.id'' ie id ''1'' first ''id'' 2

mIRC issues with FEB 27 cvs
I specified the date of the latest cvs source I built to solve this issue, but it affected ealier versions as well: 2.4.29 kernel gcc 3.3.4 cvs source from FEB 27, 2005 mirc 6.16 did standard ./configure; make depend && make; sudo make install did winecfg to create the .wine directory and set up the registry. No config file. wine mirc.exe to install mirc wine "c:\\Program

SoulSeek: winsock:NtStatusToWSAError Status code c0000024
I'm seeing a lot of this error code (STATUS_OBJECT_TYPE_MISMATCH) with SoulSeek 156c (http://www.slsknet.org/download.html). There seems to be a bug opened for this, but not much has happened in three years: http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1226 I also see a bunch of "fixme:winsock:WS2_async_recv status: -1073741536" interleaved with that other error, which might or might not

Vue xStream install problem
Just a funny tiny thing I cannot work around... Vue xStream (a Vue landscape generator version that integrates into Maxon Cinema 3D package) asks where the Cinema 4D folder is. However, the window it provides to locate C4D catalog, has the following flaws: 1. it does not see .wine catalogue in my home one, just displaying "non-dotted" folders only, 2. the alternative text-based input

Error During Rhapsody Install
So I followed the advice about installing SideNet and it seemed to go ok. After that I upgraded to the latest Suse 9.3 build of Wine. Then I tried to install Rhapsody.exe It got to a certain point in the install and reported: MessageType = 2, MessageID = 3060 : Param = 100fixme:vxd:VXD_Open Unknown/unsupported VxD L"mcstrm.vxd". wine on non-x86 architectures (presumably silly question)
I wouldn't think it's possible but I'd like to know (with an explanation, if possible): Can you run win32 apps with wine on non-x86 computers, e.g. under LinuxPPC? I guess not, but I wouldn't be able to give a clear explanation as to why. Regards, Frank

bizarre issue with opening Quicktime files from a share
Hello, this would be one of the freakiest problems I've ever seen: If I open an e.g. JPEG or Quicktime Movie with the Quicktime player application from a share, it won't work if the file is inside a folder that has a name which is longer than 12 characters. If I open the same file with e.g. the Internet Explorer, no problem. If I put the folder on a local disk or another Windows computer

seeking advice on network troubleshooting strategy
Greetings. The application I am trying to get to work under wine (Cinema4D network rendering client) works nearly OK. Just one crucial bit it fails, very unspectacularly and silently, to do. What it's supposed to do: receiving 3d scenes from a server, rendering those, and sending them back - this all works just as under windows, except for the sending back of files. About the only indication

How to troubleshoot network woes with Wine?
The app which I am currently trying to get to work properly (Cinema4D network rendering client - it does work 90%, depending on how you look at it) does some weird things, like receiving jobs from a server, computing them, and sending the rendered scenes back to the server (actually I don't know if it's sending them back, or if the server is fetching them; I don't even know what the

winelib: porting Delphi apps
Just a (probably crazy) thought: What about porting Windoze apps that aren't written in C? I've got a Delphi application that currently runs under Virtual PC under OS 9.2 on an eMac (PPC Processor), which would run much faster without those OS layers in between. I don't really have a clue as to whether this really far-out-whacky or not cuz I am not really a Delphi, or, for that matter,
