An app stopped working after upgrading wine
Hi!
I have a problem with current wine (from CVS). An application, Dynatext DOC
browser from EBT, stopped working. It just opens a dialog box saying that the
DYNATEXT.INI file was not found and that it has to be either in the windows
directory or in the Dynatext directory. I verified it and it really is in the
Dynatext directory, as it used to always be, it's readable and its contents is
OK.

"LockFile not implemented in server" messages on a Samba share
I'm trying to run a Visual FoxPro 6 application that writes to a Samba
share. It crashes with "LockFile not implemented in server" and
"UnlockFile not implemented in server" messages. I've attached a more
complete log file to this message.
On the Samba server, there aren't any special locking restrictions: for
example, oplocks are allowed.
Any ideas will be

Edit Windows XP registry with wines regedit?
Hi,
is it possible to edit the registry of an installed Windows XP under Linux
with wine's regedit? I've replaced my mainboard which has a different
chipset. So this crappy Windows XP doesn't want to boot now.
Cheers, Martin

winver & managed question
Hello All,
I have just been reading the docs on Wine and came across the
--managed Allow the window manager to manage created windows
--winver Version to imitate
(win95,nt40,win31,nt2k,win98,nt351,win30,win20)
Does the "--managed" allow my xserver to take care of the windows?
Also, if I set "--winver nt2k" then does this mean that Wine will

win32:DEVICE_Open Unknown VxD A:. Try --winver nt40 or win31 !
Hi,
I was hoping to use wine to run one of those stupid windows binaries that
generate a floppy (at least IBM has a clue, and also offers the raw floppy
image for dd-ing)
In this case, the culprit is seagate's seatools:
http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/
I installed wine under debian unstable (Version: 0.0.20010824-1) and when I
run the windows binary under wine, it runs but

service pack info for wine's --winver nt40?
Hi,
I'm trying to install OrCAD's eCapture in a no-windows environment.
When I invoke the install shield with 'wine --winver nt40 Setup.exe' The
shield reports 'service pack 0 requires at least service pack 3'.
How do I trick the shield or any other windoz program to view wine's
nt40 emulation having a specific service pack.
Thanks,

winver -- how can I confirm enabled
When trying to install a windows program under Wine in 9.3 Suse
( Rhapsody.EXE ), wine reports:
" MessageType = 2, MessageID = 3060 : Param = 100fixme:vxd:VXD_Open
Unknown/unsupported VxD L"mcstrm.vxd". Try setting Windows version to 'nt40'
or 'win31'."
I went into ~/.wine/config and changed first to 'nt40' and then to 'win31' but

winver without config
Since we are trying to move away from using the config file, I was
wondering how to set the requested win version without the config
file, whether it is an environment variable, reg setting, etc.
Thanks.

Alternate file name hash for winver win31?
Filenames that don't conform to the 8.3 file name scheme of dos
file systems are hashed by wine as expected on vfat file systems,
using the function DOSFS_Hash. Yet, the rules for windows
3.1 were somewhat different. File name requests that didn't
conform to the 8.3 scheme were simply truncated to fit.
Evidence of this exists in the execution of S-Plus for
windows 3.1. The program

Text in boxes for regular web pages
I have to say... since it''s bugged me _many_ times, that i *hate* these text boxes
with the sliders that are being used to display text (for instance, on Rails
documentation pages... but it''s not just Rails). Very often you can''t really read
the text because it goes past the right border of the box. So you have to go to the
bottom of the box to move the slider to

Unknown column 'quotes.organisation_id' in 'where clause': SELECT * FROM `quotes` WHERE (`quotes`.organisation_id = 1036)
Hi,
I have a small app that needs to keep track of quotes, and
organisations. An organisation can either be the unit who finally
receives the goods (the end_user) or and intermediary (customer) (and in
some cases both)
An Organisation will (hopefully :) ) have many quotes; and a quote
can belong to an organisation, either as a customer or as an end_user or
both.
So the quotes table

wine and msdos applications
Hi!
Windows Applications seem to run fine uder wine, but for any
MSDOS-Application FILE, I get the following error:
wine: can't exec 'FILE': invalid exe file
Protocol error: process 0x806a100: partial recvmsg 0 for fd
This happens regardless of winver/dosver (wine is called by 'wine
--winver winxyz --dosver x.yz FILE'). What am I doing wrong? Do I need

Visual Fox Pro 6 APP and Wine & Reggresion
Hello, i'm working in software development company, and we have a custom made software in VFP 6, as we're thinking on replacing all our
win9x boxes to linux (since we got rid of those hard-to-manage-and-prone-to-error nt boxes) since we mostly use this app for everything, we
tried to run it in Linux using wine.
i downloaded the latest wine release, the codeweavers release and a CVS one,

Installing IE
Hello,
I can't seem to get IE to install under wine.
I've cleared down everything and created a fake windows, and followed
just about every set of instructions for installing IE that I can find.
IE5's installer will download everything if i set winver to 95 but
IE5 and IE6 cannot connect to the server with winver = 98
I have tried using various Wininet's and *rpc*'s etc..

Running windows services, an IPC issue?
Hello all,
I am looking to run an win application on linux. The problem it that it is
two parts: a exe, which calls a dll (and runs fine) and a service that
accepts requests fron the dll and does things (generates labels).
the small program runs fine, i get a return code telling me that the
service isn't running.
but if i try to execute the service, i get:
