How to build WineX???
Hi all, I took the CVS from WineX (as mentioned on the transgaming.com Website). I downloaded fine and compiled fine. But: I have only a wine exec, but no winex. In the tools subfolder, there is a winex. But when I run it it just states, that some dirĀ“s are missing (/usr/lib/transgaming and so on). The exec winex is only a script, no bin. Does somebody know how to build a real winex with DX8

TransGaming and SourceForge

You can get updates from our live CVS tree, discuss DirectX specific issues on the 'WineX-devel' mailing list, etc. The SourceForge project page is at: http://sourceforge.net/project/winex The CVSROOT for CVS is:

I read on transgaming.com that you can download winex 2.1 with CVS tag winex-2-1, but what is the exact complete syntax to use to download the winex 2.1 source code?

running an old build of wine?
I've noticed lots of people posting to this board running ancient versions of wine. Upgrading or replacing wine is easy..but I know some of you are slighty afraid of messing what you got set up already. There are current binaries, rpms, and source here http://www.winehq.com/download.shtml I recommend getting the CVS snapshot rpm (the one on top) or to just use cvs to get the source

WineX compile problem
I am trying to get the latest CVS of WineX running on my box, Mandrake 8.1. I have run into a compile problem, and I am not having any luck finding anything about this. The configure and make depend go fine. During the make, I get the following error... gcc -c -I. -I. -I../../include -I../../include -g -O2 -Wall -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -fPIC -D__WINE__ -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/X11R6/include

Uninstalling Wine
I am going to try winex, but I have wine installed currently. First off, do I need to unistall wine, or should I? And how do I go about it, if yes? Thanks. Ian. Winehq / WineX?
I know this is an incredibly simple question, but I don't think I've seen anyone in this NG ask about it as best I can remember. Basically, what's the pros/cons of WineX over the standard version from Winehq? I have no problems with compiling from source, but in terms of application support and suchlike, could anyone with experience with both versions of WINE give any advice?

[ World of Warcraft ] The 1.8 Patch brings the target ( or targeting ) problem back
Hi, It seems that the new 1.8 patch brings and old problem back. The problem is : It's impossible to target any world object without some "tricks" [1] not always usable. This problem occured the first time with the 1.5 patch. A lot of workarounds were given on the forum and, finally, the 2.6.12 kernel fixed the problem for a lot of people (like me). Now the problem comes back but

Astonia 3 on Wine (mmorpg game)
I've installed wine, so i can play an mmorpg game called Astonia 3. So far, the game loads fine, except for 2 problems: 1) no sound 2) no keyboard input from everything i've read under wine docs, there should be a file called config - but i'm sure you know it doesn't exist... no /tools/wineinstall file either. i've installed wine from the rpm for fedora, and i can't find

WineX3.2 and pthreads
Every time I start WineX 3.2 on my Debian Woody I get: Your system requires the use of pthreads but the maximum system allowed stack size of 2052 kB may be too small for some games. If you experience problems, try rerunning with "-use-pthreads no" which may help. What does that means? Is there a way to definitively fix it, except the use of "-use-pthreads no" switch? --

installing/running Monkey Island 3 and 4
I have problems running Monkey Island 3 here. Installing it works fine, but the problems comes when trying to run it. When pressing "Play Game" (I think that's what the button says), the program just wants to install DirectX 5.0. I guess that trying to install it is NOT an option, when you're using wine. Second, installing Monkey Island 4 is not successful, because you have this

DirectX 8.0
Hi, I'm trying to install the game "Aquanox" under Wine which needs DirectX 8.0. I've found a mail in the wine mailing list archive stating that wine already includes DirectX, but Aquanox keeps complaining about a missing d3d8.dll. Trying to install DirectX 8.0, I end up with "DirectX couldn't be installed on this computer". Any hints on this one? Sebastian --

silent storm demo
Wine has no direct3d9 support yet, we havent quite got to it, so all there is at present is stubs. I dont know whether winex would help here, but dont expect d3d9 support in the near future, as I am working on ironing out the bugs in our d3d8 support and I havent even started on looking at its performance. Installers are always worrying under wine. They are getting better over time, but not
