I get these errors when running winex on paltalk.exe, what can I do? Building font metrics. Everytime I start a program with wine-20010629 on Red Hat Linux, font metrics get updated. I am getting fonts through the Xserver (no xfont server) (currently M$, ghostscript, Type1, misc and 75dpi fonts) Is this behaviour normal? Wine spits out a buch of error messages of the form: fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo font '-monotype-times new roman-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-fcd8859-15' has unknown registry 'fcd8859' and character encoding '15' Is there a switch to get it forget about it's font server. When I try to start notepad, it starts with a grayed title bar, like it wasnt active. I cant enter text into the input window. Strange thing, menus work. To get it look like active and type text, I must select the system menu and "About wine". After closing the new window (that has appeared as active), i see that notepad appears active and I can enter text. Has someone this issue ?

I would know what is needed to get MIDI playing into wine. I know I must have a card that supports it :). Must I change something into the registry (I have read the docu but it doesnt help), into .wine/config ? Do some drivers have to be loaded ? Has someone a small/big application to test it ? I've narrowed the my Cups printing problem down to Wine not loading my Type 1 fonts. I have several Type 1 fonts installed in 3 places, all of which are in my fontpath ("xset q" lists them).
