Wine and Derive 5
Hi, I am running the mathematic program Derive 5 in wine so far successful but it doesn't display the Greek and mathematic symbols correctly. The are some fonts in wine dir, but they are not recognized by mkttfdir. Has anyone got the symbols working? Or has anyone got ideas? TIA Alex

samba printing 2.2.5 - RPC server is unavailable
Hiya - oh so close to getting our samba 2.2.5 server running at last - but being palgued by printer setup problems... I've never quite been able to get printing working 100% under samba and am beginning to wonder if it's a problem with the way the printing subsystem is set up under Redhat. Anyway - I've got samba installed and acting as PDC for a variety of WinNT and Win98

Wine release 20020122
This is release 20020122 of Wine, a free implementation of Windows on Unix. This is still a developers only release. There are many bugs and unimplemented features. Most applications still do not work correctly. Patches should be submitted to "wine-patches@winehq.com". Please don't forget to include a ChangeLog entry. Font / charset encoding problem?
I have successfully installed and launched Sibelius (music typesetting software) on linux (with codeweavers preview 4, w/ a fake_windows install). It works fairly well, and would probably deserve a 4 on the app database. Except for the fonts, which kind of defies the purpose of a typesetting software! Here are the symptoms and some log activities : * No musical symbols are displayed (except

TeXtext font encoding?
Dear R wizards: Has anyone gotten the TeXtext font encoding to work? If I execute: if (is.null(postscriptFonts()$lucida)) { luafmfiles <- c("/usr/share/texmf/fonts/afm/yandy/lubright/lbr.afm", "/usr/share/texmf/fonts/afm/yandy/lubright/lbd.afm", "/usr/share/texmf/fonts/afm/yandy/lubright/lbi.afm",

Installing OpenOffice401 on CentOS6
Up until this morning I have been running multiple versions of Libre and Open Office on my x86_64 CentOS desktop including the most recent. I decided, foolishly, to remove the oldest versions. Now I cannot get anything other than the LO version from base (3.4.5) to run. And, reinstalling all the older versions do not alter this condition. What I am seeing is this: # openoffice4 no suitable

Font Encodings --- some work, some don't
Dear R wizards: I believe some more font encoding info. some of the font encodings work, others do not: IsoLatin1, MacRoman, WinAnsi, and PDFDoc seem fine. AdobeStd, AdobeSym, ISOLatin2, ISOLatin9, and TeXtext seem broken, in that the resulting output file is silently corrupt. The font encoding error does not appear in the postscript device driver, and it works fine. It would be nice if

font metrics updated on each program launch
Everytime I start a program with wine-20010629 on Red Hat Linux, font metrics get updated. I am getting fonts through the Xserver (no xfont server) (currently M$, ghostscript, Type1, misc and 75dpi fonts) Is this behaviour normal? Everytime this happens, I get lots of output like fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo DBCS fonts like '-urw-century schoolbook

Setting up postfix under CentOS-6
I recently, perhaps foolishly, changed over a remote server from sendmail/procmail to postfix/amavis/spamassassin/clamd , and I'm finding it difficult to configure this setup. The CentOS document <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix> explicitly says that its instructions may not work in CentOS-6. Does anyone know of reasonably simple postfix documentation for CentOS-6? I've been

Database tables
Preface - Having read through a good portion of material on Ruby and Rails I think it''s time to jump in head first and figure my around from there. As suggested (somewhere) I''ve picked one small piece of application functionality and decided to start on that first. So, perhaps I can get a little push into thinking the Rails way as I''ve done this application in PHP.

My .02 worth
First allow me to apologize for breaking the thread(s). As a brand new list member, I wasn''t able to easily retrieve from the archives. I believe initiative is a great attribute for every team member, but as Alex points out, I too believe there must be a "buck stops here" authority to ensure that everyone''s initiative is at least heading in the generally accepted

shorewall.net outage
There was an outage this morning at shorewall.net -- I attempted to install the latest 2.6.7 Debian kernel on my firewall and foolishly let the install process update my lilo.conf. That left me with *no* bootable kernel that was compatible with /sbin/iptables and the boot process hung at "shorewall start" no matter which kernel I tried to boot :-((( Took me a while to figure out how

maks is going to be co-maintainer of klibc
Hi all, I wanted everyone to know that maximilian attems, of lower case fame ;) has foolishly^Wgraciously agreed to become co-maintainer of klibc. Hopefully this should let me spend more of the klibc development time I can squeeze out on productizing improvements, with maks concentrating on the ongoing maintenance work. maks of course has done most of the footwork for the last several
