Setup Question
Hello,
am running Wine on Mandrake 8, using a 'fake' windows
directory, that I created according to instructions on the Codeweavers
website. Unfortunately, most apps don't run at all or run with errors.
Would I achive better results by creating a separate partition,
installing Windows on it with all the apps and using that partition with
Wine?
If yes, would some special setup of

ACCESS application in wine
Hi,
I'm trying to run a third party M$-ACCESS application in wine (0.9.26 on
kubuntu). The app installs fine, but yields an error when reading the
ACCESS database (tried in win98 and win2000 mode). Any hints? Any FAQ or
dedicated page?
In particular, I've read about using original M$-DLLs in wine for ACCESS
support. Would this possibly solve the problem? If yes, which win

Wine and Windows 2000
I had the latest wine running under winblows 98 SE for a week or two with no
problems, then I installed winblows 2000 and now I cannot get wine to work.
It is important for me to get it running again since I run United Devices
cancer research agent (http://members.ud.com) 24/7 to help them find a cure
for cancer. Is wine compatible with Win2k, or will I need to re-install 98
again?

replacing builtin library files with native dlls
Hi,
I want to replace some of the builtin libraries of
Wine with native ones to improve performance in some
games. The wine documentation refers to a
'~/.wine/config' that doesn't exist. From what I've
gathered from this mailing list, I should simply move
the native dlls I want into the fake c drive
(.wine/drive_c/windows) and Wine will use them
instead. Is this right or am I

Native 9x and config
All,
Anyone willing to share a .wine/config that's working with a 9x install?
I've been playing around, even blowing away the win98 slice and
installing it from scratch, but when running wineboot, I still get 10-15
crashes to the debugger. So far, about all I can run is notepad
sucessfully.
The ironic thing is, if I use just wine, I have much fewer problems, but
would like to be able to

ActiveX Controls Not Working
For a month I've been trying to get ActiveX controls working from the ToolkitCMA.com site with IE6. Some serious weirdness going on.
So now I check what I look like at http://bellsnwhistles.com/bells.html, and it informs me that:
"The Browser you are using is Microsoft Internet Explorer (Mozilla) 4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98)"
Eh no, I check Help|About IE, and it

using native windows dlls
I still have a Win98 SE CD and license that's not used any more. Does it make sense
to install this on an extra partition and use it as the basis for a wine installation?
Or copy everything from that partition to fake_windows?

WinME, Win2000: status
Hi all
Some time ago I asked about support of WinME and Win2000. The answer
was: not ready yet.
These days, when people enjoy VSS under Linux, I have to admit I really
need wine:)
So in a word: can I use Wine with any of these OSes? Could anyone please
point me out to the settings I need in my config file (I am especially
interested in Profile option)?
Thanks in advance

I need to make some comment on WineTools
I just red the article on the website about winetools. This is
controversy is a non starter in my oppinion. I believe that something
like winetools should be included in the wine distribution to begin
with. It should be something under the control of the developers
themselves and bug reports should be added to fix any problems. Why did
it take someone outside of the wine development team to

win95-98 problems
I've installed samba in my linux machine (Mandrake 7.2).
With WinNT and Win2000 there is no problems, but in Win95 and Win98 It's impossible to read files, and open exixting folders, the error is: "the file (folder) don't exist".
If I try to create one, It'isn't shown, there is an error, but if I go in machine with win2000 the folder(file) is there.
How can I resolve

First I would like to say how proud of and thankful to all the people
who help out with wine. Its a great project and a lifesaver for

elated)

Windows harddisk images.
Hello all,
I've been following this project with interest, and have had great fun
implementing Isolinux within the FreeDOS cdrom distribution.
Since I'm not that an expert at Linux, I would like to know how I can
*succesfully* generate a bootable image from a partition.
Situation is like this: (640MB RAM on system)
60GB IDE harddisk,
primary partition 1 win98 500MB
extended partition
