Newies Q: Getting Started With Wine On Red Hat 7.2
Hi; I'm running Red Hat 7.2 on a lap top that was given to me already set up. It looks like wine was preinstalled with Red Hat 7.2. When I run "wine" at a shell prompt I get the error message ===================== wineserver: chdir /home/srussell/.wine : No such file or directory ===================== I think I might need to run some sort of set up program. I checked out the

focus problems
Hi! I have some focus problems with wine if I use the managed mode. When I start the application it has focus. But if I switch to another window, and back, then the window gets its focus (the window decorations shows it), but the windows app does not get it. If I click somewhere in the window, then it gets the focus properly, but before that even the shortcuts does not work. With one app it

Longman dictionary installer debugging
Hi! I'm trying to install the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English (which I have got with the book with the same name). I'm running: the latest wine release (20020228) Redhat 7.2 gcc 2.96-98 fake windows dir (altough I have tried it with a win98 install a month ago) The installer is an installshild with win16 libs. When I run it, it puts up a message box, that the install files

Unable to utilize past 1 gbps
Hi Zsolt, looking at the metrics from Proxmox it doesn't look like anything breaks there. What about at the operating system level? Could there be some limits there? Have you checked corresponding kernel or system logs? Which OS/distribution are you using? Checked the logs there? If nothing screams there, maybe start looking at a load balancer and scale with several more VMs? -- Marius

A quick Google search indicates that it might be a Proxmox limitation: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/i-cant-exceed-1gb-of-internet-with-a-10gb-network-card.128710/ On Fri, Mar 15, 2024 at 12:24?PM Marius Flage <marius at flage.org> wrote: > Hi Zsolt, > > looking at the metrics from Proxmox it doesn't look like anything breaks > there. winesetup
Hello! I have just compiled and installed wine-2001-07-31 (from tar.gzipped source) and it works fine. But I cannot find the winesetup programm which makes setup much more comfortable. I am new to wine; I've used rpm-package on a different system where winesetup was automatically installed. Is winesetup not part of wine-2001-07-31? Or do I have it and just did not install it? Where can

Dear Marius, In addition to that attached please find a screenshot from Proxmox on statistics. Do you know any ice cast servers that puts out more than 1 gbps for a longer period? Just curious whether anyone was able to go beyond 1 gbps for an extensive time. Thank you! Wine Setup
I am a complete newbie to Wine. I am aware of the wonderful things OTHER people can get it to do as far as running MS apps, but I have never had such sucess. The last attempt to run "winesetup" as root was met with the following: debian:/home/tilleyrw# whoami root debian:/home/tilleyrw# winesetup Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Client is not authorized

First time run errors, winesetup?
I compiled the latest release of wine, without any problems, on Red Hat, 7.2 When I run wine, it says I dont have a .wine config file, in my user directory. I ran winelauncher, and clicked setup, and it says it cant find 'winesetup', which it needs to write the config file for the first time run. winesetup isnt in the release (or any I have seen), if they has been taken out, how do I

Wine on RedHat 7.2
Hi, I'm a bit of a Linux newb, so please excuse me if I'm missing the obvious. I installed RedHat 7.2, and downloaded the latest rpm for Wine (linked to from WineHQ). I have read the docs, and put together what at least should be a working config. When I try to run Wine from the command line, I get an error: error while loading shared libraries: libntdll.so: cannot open shared object

Wine install/execution problems
I'm trying to get a version of Wine working. I don't really care which version, just one that works. From reading I was under the impression that Wine was able to work with a lot of different Windows programs, but so far none that I have tried have worked. Most fail to install, and judging from the error messages I get I'm hoping it's a configuration problem. I am currently

codeweavers-wine:itcl problem
codeweavers-wine-20010112-1 hung during install (rpm) at the creation of KDE/Gnome menus; since I don't use either, I thought, no prob and ran winesetup from Blackbox. I skipped re-making the links on starting winesetup and went right for the configuration. which also failed. This is the message it generated: Error: Invoking 'wish Main.itcl' in /opt/wine/bin/winesetuptk

MS Office 2000 Small Business instalation problem
Hello. I'm trying to install MS Office 2000 Small Bussiness (Polish version) with latest CVS wine. First I get a small message box that tells me, that my Windows Installator is being upgraded, then I get an error message, that could be roughly translated as: "Windows system Installer in this system has been upgraded. I don't know if any such limitation exists, but maxing out just shy of 1Gbps sounds a bit more like an interface's line speed limited/set to 1Gbps somewhere in your production chain? You wrote that you have tested the bw - what did you use? Iperf? Speedtest?Maybe consider scaling with additional Icecast servers and use a load balancer in front? And then just scale accordingly? This sounds
