High speed traffic filtering
Hi; First, sorry if this question is mostly netfilter related, than lartc, but I think you guys may have a your opinion about this. I''m using Linux 2.4.x with netfilter packet filtering / NAT on our front-end firewalls (P500 with 1Gb RAM), which are filtering traffic going to our Public Web Sites. The traffic is growing very fast since several months.. The average traffic filtered by

Allowing RIP broadcasts?
This is kind of an odd request so I''ve got the asbestos undies on. I have a client who currently has a layer 3 switch plugged into a cisco pix. Routing is handled via RIP and now the client wants to insert a linux box running shorewall behind the PIX and in front of the switch to act as a content filter+backup firewall. The immediate problem I forsee happening is that RIP broadcasts to

CentOS 7, systemd, nmcli, wifi, oh, my...
I've been googling, but haven't come up with a satisfactory answer to the question of how I permanently turn off wifi on a workstation or server (which are *all* hardwired). I see I can turn wifi off... but I don't know that it's permanent. mark

Ran IE5 with Wine ...
Well, well, well, what can i do to repair my windows98 system now ? It still works relatively OK, but some applications do not, and it crashes more than usual. One more question is: can i run the defrag utility under windows without getting all the files mixed up? I had to reinstall linux after running defrag under windows because the nodes were all mixed up. Oh, by the way, before i get

smbmount error
I posted a similar email recently regarding this. One thing has changed, however; I have upgraded my kernel to 2.2.6 (hence I'm now using the samba version of smbmount rather than the smbfs version). I get the error "no such device" when trying to mount a network drive. My command line is: smbmount "\\\\susangra\\c-hd" -c 'mount /mnt' the console text which

Configuration Questions
These seem to be outside the scope of the standard documentation so I figured I'd see if I get a response. I've donned my asbestos suit in case virtual flame throwers are deployed... ;) 1. There are two parameters "nis homedir" and "homedir map" that seem locked to NIS although it would be extremely nice it they just worked in conjunction with automount/autofs

Logon scripts in Windows 2000
I am certain this is a stupid question, but I have been reading books and searching Google for the answer and have come up blank. Are domain logins required for login scripts to work or will they work in workgroup mode as well? Thanks in advance and I have my asbestos underwear in case the question is really stupid

Is g.711 supported for transcoding in *?
Okay this may be a very noobie question, but I've looked around the WIKI and haven't found anything about this. I was looking at some VO-IP phones, an they list one of the codecs as g.711, this isn't listed on the * page I was looking at, is this also known as another name, or is it not supported by *? Zero listeners on icecast stats
I must try that. Will let you know asap! btw I'm not "trying to stick with the one that has the most universal "default browser support" but instead trying to avoid a LOT of listeners writing me "my player/browser/whatever doesn't connect, it doesn't understand ogg / opus / xspf " etc. etc. - so mp3 it is. It's simple surviving :) On 3/18/20, Jeroen van

Win98SE to Samba 2.0.10 Problems
Thanks for the answers so far but I haven't been able to come up with an solution yet :( Some new info (see bottom of email for history): 1. I upgraded to 2.0.10 on my Mandrake 8.0, no change to the transfer problem. 2. I attempted to ftp a file from the Win 98SE PC to my Samba Server, didn't work. So I can assume that it is not specifically Samba problem. 3. I have changed the NIC cards
