DC++ 0.668 - Annoying "tooltips"
Hello there ? There were folks in the recent time running DC++ on wine. I'm also one of them, and I have a small problem, which turns out to be very annoying. The action buttons at the top of the main DC++ window as well as tabs at the bottom tend to show "tooltips" containing information about the last files to be hashed. However, there is an error somewhere that these tooltip

Wine and AMD 64 in Suse 9.3
Hi. I have to use a comercial Windows software in my work, called Cosilab. Last two months I was using Debian and wine 0.9.1 and everything went perfect. The Program works fine under wine and I haven't got any problems. Now I've updated my computer to an AMD64 with 2Ghz Processor and I do not know if the problem with wine is caused by the 64 bits processor or why... I try to run the

Regression in wine-20011226 ?
Hi! It's a pitty but I have to report that two programs which worked with the previous (November) wine release don't work anymore. The first one is a front panel for the measuring instrument, which worked perfectly after the serial handshake fixes but now (from about Dec 19) it crashes. The second one is a Nokia Logo Manager. It was not too useful for other wine problems but it at

Anybody running VirtualDub ?
Hi! I just tried to run VirtualDub 1.5.10 with current wine from CVS. The program runs, but when the video playback is started (or even the video file is just loaded), all the screen except the window with the first video frame goes black. The video is played properly. All is alive and well, underlying windows/icons are there and they react on the mouse, windows can be moved (if You find their

An app stopped working after upgrading wine
Hi! I have a problem with current wine (from CVS). An application, Dynatext DOC browser from EBT, stopped working. It just opens a dialog box saying that the DYNATEXT.INI file was not found and that it has to be either in the windows directory or in the Dynatext directory. I verified it and it really is in the Dynatext directory, as it used to always be, it's readable and its contents is OK.

Wine segfaulting
Hi! I just tried to install an older app from its CD and I've got immediate segfault. When run with --debugmsg +relay, the following was output: (of course just the end of a very long dump) ... 0806ea10:Call x11drv.ShowWindow(00010028,00000005) ret=40715676 0806ea10:Call window proc 0x406e2d90 (hwnd=00010028,msg=WM_SHOWWINDOW,wp=00000001,lp=00000000) 0806ea10:Ret window proc 0x406e2d90

A problem reading configuration file
Hi! For some time, there is a regression in wine, which disables my Dynatext reader from working. It tries to open it's configuration file but unsuccessfully. The file IS there and former wine versions allowed the program to read it. I was recommended to do a regression tests to find a particular patch but it's too time-expensive for me these days, so I did a full trace and found an

improving/speeding up a very large, slow simulation
Dear R help; I'll preface this by saying that the example I've provided below is pretty long, turgid, and otherwise a deep dive into a series of functions I wrote for a simulation study. It is, however, reproducible and self-contained. I'm trying to do my first simulation study that's quite big, and so I'll say that the output of this simulation as I'd like it to be is

WINE and OFFICE97 Applications
Hi all, I've copied from my WIN98 PC to my linux machine the complete C:\WINDOWS\* tree and as application the OFFICE97 installation. On my linux machine codeweaver 1.0 is running. EXCEL97 behaves well but for WINWORD97 I got the alert box "not enough memory or working space". Well I think I have enough memory but it may be a configuration problem. Has anybody experiences with

Error during wrapup: cannot open the connection
I am trying to use a new (to me) package (samr) and even when I try to run a very simple example, I get this "cannot open the connection" error. The reason I am writing to r-help rather than to the authors of samr is I think this may be a more general R problem rather than a samr-specific problem. Perhaps something with my installation and write access to some particular place ? I am

Non-parametric test for location with two unpaired sets of data measured on ordinal scale.
Please forgive a stats question. I have to sets of data (unpaired) measured on an ordinal scale. I want to test to see if the two sets are different (i.e. do they have the same location): set1: 1,3,2,2,4,3,3,2,2 set: 4,4,4,3,3,5,4,4 What is the most appropriate non-parametric test to test location? Thanks, John Confidentiality Statement: This email message, including any attachments, is

t.test()
Hi I have a vector x of length n. I am interested in x[1] being different from the other observations (ie x[-1]). My null hypothesis is that x[1] is drawn from a Gaussian distribution of the same mean as observations x[-1], which are assumed to be iid Gaussian. The (unknown) variance of x[1] is assumed to be the same as the variance of x[-1]. This should be an unpaired t-test. But

EBAM ERROR
Dear RUsers, I am new to R. I am learning how to use R. I am a PC user and run R on windows. I would appreciate if some one could guide me on a few questions I have: 1) I have 4 cel files (2 replicates for NORM and Disease resp). I have been able to run siggenes on this dataset where I have 4 labels in the class file groupsnhi.cl op-> (0,0,1,1) and my data has been read into datrmanhi after

Using Office2000 with Samba (latest version)
I need your help. I've searched the Internet and did a lot of experimenting but I cannot get Office 2000 to work with Linux 7.3 and the latest-version of Samba. I had no problem with Office97 and other applications. I used the setup /a on a win2000 client to decompress the files so I could run setup and install the applications on the Samba share. The files will install onto the Samba

Why SAM has totally diffent results in R2.1.1 and R2.4.0
Hi, I am using SAM (from siggenes_1.2.11 package) method to select genes from a microarray data set. After installing the latest R2.4.0 on my computer, to my surprise the results are totally different from that calculated using R2.1.1. Even the example code doesn't work the same way under these two versions of R. Does anybody know what is going on? Thanks for any suggestions.

Problems with serial comm
Hi! I'm new to this list as well to Wine, so please excuse me if I'm asking a FAQ. Today I installed wine-20011108, especially to be able to run programs I need for my work. One of them is a remote front panel to the measuring instrument, which communicates with it using a modem connection. This program cannot establish a connection. It accesses the modem, its LEDs blink, but no

Multiple if statement in loop condition
What this message means is that a "{" showed up when some other bracket was unpaired. In this case, if you check your code, you'll see that "if(MatriceDist[i,j] > 0 & ((vectorID[i] > 0 | vectorID[j] > 0))" is lacking a closing ")" for the if clause.
