Lotus Notes R5, bad class name error
Hello,
I've just installed Lotus Notes 5.0.8 client on my system with wine,
on a Debian Linux (unstable dist) system.
The wine package installed is the 20011112 version, from the CVS build
deb package.
I'm running c:/Lotus/Notes/nlnotes.exe, and my Wine desktop comes up
with the Notes Workspace and a client configuration dialog with active

Wine & openGL
I have Codeweavers-wine installed and working. I'm able to run Lotus
Notes 5.0.2 and a couple of other win applications. I've installed
Half-Life and it does run, but only with software rendering. I have an
nVidia Gforce GTX(?) and my openGL works for linux games. How do I get
wine to use openGL. I modified the codeweavers source rpm to enable
openGL but something still seems to be

Cups Printing
I've just moved over to Cups printing system and installed the 20010824
version of wine (with cops support) after removing a June 2001 version.
Everything seem to work and Wine does recognize the printers on my
system but when I print a document from Lotus Notes (5.05) nothing comes
out of the printer. The print dialog box opens and and I can get a print
preview but nothing actually

Default Page Size
I've finally gotten wine (codeweavers) to work with my non-Windows
system. I can run Lotus Notes without many problems and can even print to
my postscript printer with WINEPS.DRV, but I need to remember to change
the page size from A4 to Letter each time I restart Notes (or any other
app). Is there a way to tell wine or WINEPS.DRV to default to Letter?
Thanks,

Best CentOS to install on *old* laptop?
I've found an old IBM OmniBook 800 and am curious whether I can get it
going again. (Currently it boots either Windows 95 or some
then-contemporary version of Slackware.) The CDROM is external (SCSI,
I think) and the machine won't boot from it, so it'd require a boot
floppy. Any suggestions? Or is CentOS entirely the wrong Linux to be
thinking about for this?

Battery status indicator in CentOS 4.4
I've got CentOS 4.4 installed on 3 machines - two laptops and a PC. Only
one, a HP Omnibook 900, shows the graphical battery status indicator (in
the bottom right of the screen), but the other laptop (a new Dell
Inspiron 1501) doesn't show it. Furthermore, the command /usr/bin/apm
gets the response 'no apm support in kernel' - I've tried yum-updating
the kernel and installing

I read your message about using the Loki Linux Unreal Tournament engine
to play Unreal. I have the original Unreal Windows version CD and would
like to play it on Linux but can't get the Loki version to recognize the
CD. Can you tell me which files to download from Loki and how to install
them?

Another Half Life error
Thanks to help form this group, I finally have Half Life installed,
running and using my nVidia Gforce2 GTS with OpenGL. Wow. Now I still
have one error. When I start Half-Life I get this message...
"Could not open MCI file for playback: 266: There is an undetectable
problem in loading the specified device driver"
This error repeats twice and I select OK each time and then the game

HP 560C printer
I'm trying to install an HP 560C Deskjet printer under wine. I cannot
get past the "Use Windows 95 Control Panel to Add Printers" message. I
have a postscript printer working well under wine but I wan the option
of printing to this second printer. Can anyone offer a suggestion or
maybe some HOWTO advice.

Adding Printers
I've finally gotten Wine to work with Cups. Wine recognized my installed
Cups printers and works well with them. I've added another printer after
getting Cups to work with Samba. How do I get wine to recognize this new
Cups printer?

Running Delphi application.
Hi,
Some years ago I developed a Delphi application for my private use and
now I want it to run on Linux using wine. The application uses Paradox
database engine. I tried to install the engine itself but failed.
Eventually I installed the whole Delphi development environment with
wine. It certainly installed BDE but I can not run even the dbd32.exe
(database desktop).

Excessive redraw in Lotus Notes on Wine 20011108
I compiled up Wine 20011108 from the source on my Mandrake 7.2 box without
problems. I was pleased when I actually managed to get the Windows QuickTime
player to install properly and actually run the player (albeit slowly). I also
managed to get the SameTime installer to run, although the client still refuses
to work.
My one critical application on Wine however is Lotus Notes. It works pretty

Excessive redraw in Lotus Notes with Wine 20011108
I've just compiled up Wine 20011108 and given it a little testing. QuickTime
installer works fine and QuickTime player comes up, although it wants to be
fullscreen most of the time (something to do with strange mouse click handling
I think). SameTime installer runs (at least for version 1.5) although I can't
get the actual program to start (Unhandled exception).

Wine and ntfs
I am trying to use wine on a double boot system with NTFS on the windows

be installed properly I can't get any win-apps running.

Lotus Notes under WinNT 4.0
Hello!
I'm trying to run Lotus Notes (installed on another partition,
Win NT 4.0) under SuSE Linux 7.2.
So far I got Wine release 20011108.
If I run
wine --winver nt40 --debugmsg +loaddll \\
/windows/c/Programme/Lotus/Notes/notes.exe
a Lotus opening window shows shortly and then on a mouseclick
it does nothing or produce a memory error.
It seems to have problems with ole32.dll:

Sound Problems with Wine and ALSA
I've been trying to fix this for a couple of weeks now without any luck.
I'm hoping someone here can offer some help.
I Replaced my mainboard and CPU about a month ago. The new board has
on-board sound as did my old mainboard, but the new board uses an
Intel8x0 sound chip, the old board had a Yamaha YMFPCI chipset. Because
of the difference in sound systems I needed to rebuild the

Driver for Symbios 8100S PCI SCSI?
I'm trying to install CentOS 3 on an OmniBook 800. (Am I insane?)
The bootdisk.img gets things started just fine, but the closest driver
on the drvblock.img disk is for the Symbios 53C896, and the Omnibook
has a 53C810. Manually choosing the Symbios driver seems to discover
scd0, but it's not able to load CentOS from the CD. (I've tried both

Running a game in full screen mode?
UT2004 runs nearly flawlessly under Wine, and is about
10,000 times easier to install than its Linux
counterpart.
The only problem I'm having is running it full screen.
What's the command for that?
For example, is it something like:
$wine UT2004.exe --full-screen
I know --full-screen is the right option, so which is
it? (Without editing the config file, or course.)
:)
Thanks!

Unreal again
Not to take away from wine, but loki (www.loki.com) has released a patch
that will install and update UT into a Linux game, where Wine, or any other
package, would not be needed. I have it running and it works great!
