Anyone use PDQ with Samba for Printing
Hello,
** Please reply directly to ian@ichilton.co.uk **
Does anyone use PDQ for printing with Samba?
If so, please could you tell me what options to use in smb.conf??
Mainly, what do I use for the printing option?
Can I just use:
printing = bsd
print command = pdq -P%p %s; rm %s
Or, can I not use PDQ, because there is no setting for it on the printing
parameter???
Thanks!

CUPS Printing to PostScript Printer
I'm having trouble printing to a HP LaserJet 6MP
Postscript printer. I'm using CUPS and normal
UNIX printing works fine.
I've tried to configure SAMBA for point and click
printing. That all seemed to go okay except that
what is printed is:

Printers: Fedora + WinXPHome
I have a network with 1 Linux box (host), 2 Win98 machines, and 1 WinXPHome machine. There is a Deskjet attached to the Linux box, and an HPLJ Postscript attached to one of the PCs.
Until recently I was running RH7.1 with Samba 2.x and all computers could print to both printers (which, obviously, were shared).
I have recently rebuilt the LInux box, and in the process installed Fedora, with Samba

Printing from Windows is printing PS commands instead of job!
I've about run out of ideas and need some help.
I have an HP OfficeJet 7110 installed on my Fedora Core 3 box. From
Linux, it prints perfectly, the Test Page works, I can print from
Mozilla/Thunderbird/Firefox, KDE applications, and even Emacs, all
without any issues whatsoever.
The problem is I can't seem to get it to work when I share the printer
to Windows. I've shared it to

Printing in Corel Draw through CUPS
10/10/2007
After consulting with some local Linux consultants, we have concluded
that Corel Draw does not print under WINE because it detects the printer
as Postscript, converts the file to Postscript, and sends the file to
CUPS, which then converts the file to Postscript, again, and sends it to
the printer which prints garbage.
The consultant found a way to make a couple changes to WINE

RE: [R] Windows Printing and Line Widths
... Moved from R-help ...
Thank you for your suggestion, Professor Ripley. Postscript does seem
like the way to go for printing line widths correctly in Windows.
On Linux I am using a simple dev.print() wrapper (as suggested), with a
pipe to lpr.
However, I had an extremely difficult time getting postscript printing
under windows.

Printing problem with CUPS and lp/lpr
I know that printing on Linux is somewhat of an art form, but I have
a fairly simple problem. I used the following command to configure a
networked printer (HP LaserJet 8150):
lpadmin -p name -E -v socket://name -m laserjet.ppd -u allow:all -
u deny:none
This added and enabled the printer, and I can print to it using the
print command from within a GUI application and PostScript

Samba 3 and network printing setup
I'm running a Debian Woody system with Samba 3.02 from backports.org.
What I'm trying to do is set up the Adobe Postscript Windows drivers to
a Epson printer I have with CUPS and Samba. I have no problem printing
through CUPS on the UNIX side, nor printing through Samba on the Windows
side as long as I manually install the drivers.
I want set the system up so that when a new Windows

samba printing with cups driver and cups with non PS printers
Hello,
I just finished to read chapter 22 of the samba howto.
This chapter explains very well how printing from a win client via samba
and cups work.
If I understood it right, printing a file from windows to a non
postscript printer via cups driver, samba an cups works like this:
- application prints generating an EMF file ( windows spooler )
- the cups ( or adobe ) printer driver converts

Filtering ^D and PCL headers in samba print jobs under Solaris
This is my way of filtering ^D and PCL headers
out of samba jobs on a solaris 7 system.
It assumes that all your printers are capable of postscript,
and that you are using PS drivers on any printers are not PCL capable.
1) Add a declaration of pcl capability to the relevant printers:
lpadmin -p hp8000 -I 'simple,postscript,pcl'
Choose which printers you do this to carefully,

CUPS problem with network printing - SOLVED!!! :)))
Hi all,
Yesterday I reported rather vaguely about the printing issues I was
experiencing on our local network after the latest kernel update.
Today, I solved it, and I'm relaying this information such that others
can potentially benefit from it if they run into a similar problem. :)
Firstly, I contacted Xante support and they told me I was the first to
ask Linux questions; they

Delphi applications printing bug
Hi,
I'm using Wine 0.9.27 and Ubuntu 6.06.
I've problems when printing from Delphi Apps that use QReport (the
default reporting engine for most Delphi versions), and after some
hacking I've perhaps isolated the trouble:
it seems that Delphi printing over a Canvas works only if I show the
system PrintDialog or the PrinterSetupDialog befor printing, and I
press OK in this dialog:

Printing problem - Spooled files won't print
Hi,
I have some trouble getting files printed on my Solaris 8 machine running
Samba 2.0.5.
The client is a winxp installed laptop, the printer is configured as a
postscript printer (Minolta PagePro 12 PS), although it is a PCL printer
(Minolta PagePro 6).

PostScript printing to a file?
Hi,
I can't print to a file from an application running under Wine, and I
don't know if it is the application, the internal PostScript driver,
or my configuration that is causing the problem.
To complicate matters, although I know unix/linux fairly well, I have
avoided using any Microsoft products and do not understand the *.ini
file format or the registry.
The system I'm trying to

Trouble with finding a network printer...help please...:(((
Hi all,
I'm sorry to have to ask a probably straightforward question, but I'm
stuck at it, and I need access to the printer for my work...:/
The situation:
When first installing CentOS, I manually installed a networked printer,
and that worked fine. AFAIR I installed it using the IP address, and the
generic Postscript driver. The printer in question is a Xante
Accelawriter 3N.

R-beta: Re: Problem with Postscript printing
Alvaro,
The Postscript output from R will produce output as good as your
printer. It is best to have a printer with a Postscript interpreter
built in, as the software conversions often found in Windows printer
drivers can be pretty wobbly. One advantage of R Postscript is that it
doesn't tack a Postscript reset (^D) on the end of every file.
As for word processors which handle Postscript

Printing to remote usb printer
My networked printer has developed a fault and has to be returned to the
manufacturer, so I have to go back to a usb printer attached to my file
server. In the past I worked happily with a remote printer, but I'm having
no success at all today, and could do with some prompting.

Hello I'am french and I have a big problem with a great feature of smbclient, I can't print anymore postscript document directly to my network printer(postscript compatible)
We have recently change of server, we used a old linux distribution ( suse 5 or 6) with samba 1.9 and we had no problem with it
