Spaces in WinME Directory Names
Hello! I've finally gotten Samba and WinME to connect and see each other. On my WinME box I've got the usual My Documents folder which I'd like my Linux box to be able to use. I think there's a problem with the space in the directory name. smbmount //WinME/My Documents ~/mountpoint 2854: tree connect failed: ERRSRV - ERRinvnetname (Invalid network name in tree connect.) WinME, Win2000: status
Hi all Some time ago I asked about support of WinME and Win2000. The answer was: not ready yet. These days, when people enjoy VSS under Linux, I have to admit I really need wine:) So in a word: can I use Wine with any of these OSes? Could anyone please point me out to the settings I need in my config file (I am especially interested in Profile option)? Thanks in advance Sergey

WinME can't log immediately after restart (Samba as PDC).
Hello list. I use Slackware 10.2 with Samba 3.0.20 as PDC/WINS server in a LAN with 6 more PCs running WinME (I'm not to blame, they were there when I arrived). I've followed step by step the HOW-TO in setting up Samba as a PDC and a WINS server, but when I reboot one of the WinMEs I can't log on to the domain immediately. I have to hit [Esc], enter MS-DOS and do

Loading tcltk package fails on WinMe/Cygwin but works with Rgui
I am investigating how well R/tcltk is supported on different system and I ran into the same problem as Christian Schulz reported on February 7, 2002. I am using [R] v1.4.1 on WinMe and ActiveTcl 8.3.2. Loading tcltk within Rgui works just fine and both demo(tkdensity) and demo(tkttest) works as expected. However, when I start R from my Cygwin terminal dyn.load() fails to load the library: % R

SoundBlaster Live
Folks, I last saw this problem in a thread in this newsgroup a couple of years ago, but there was no solution then. It was then stated that you couldn't get a SoundBlaster Live sound card to work under Wine because Windows 'ran' everything through the emu10k1.vxd file and Wine did not support vxd files. Is this still the case? Has anyone found a workaround yet? Pete

Printing to a Samba Printer triggering a DNS lookup and dialling the modem
I have just joined the list and I have a problem, perhaps someone can help. I have: Linux 7.0 with 2.4.7 Kernel (with various upgrades for functionality). Samba is running on this machine with shares and a printer on the USB port. This machine also has a modem (demand dialling) and I am using the Monmotha Firewall script. This works quite well for the WinME PC able to access the printer and

win ME/Samba connection
Ok, believe it or not, I've looked through all 209 pages of the Samba-HOWTO_Collection.pdf plus used this mail list and other internet sources, used those recommendations, tried almost every possible iteration on the samba.conf file, looked at logs until nauseated and have concluded that there is no way that Windows ME can connect to a Linux box using Samba. Connecting to the WinME box from

Is it possible to use wine with a journaling filesystem?
Hi there, I installed my mandrake linux 8.1 with reiserfs. I would like to use wine without my windows partition. Now I see the following text in the wine man-page: --- format: Filesystem=<fstype> default: "win95" Used to specify the type of the file system Wine should emulate on a given directory structure/underlying file system. Re: WinME command.com
Hi.. Well i've tried each and every method to insert any winme command.com into any bootable image and its really giving me problems.... I even further tested the same image with reinserting the 98 command.com and the image worked just fine.. So acc to me the problem has to lie in me command.com as there is no real mode dos in ME.. Also try using umbpci.sys and lowdma.sys for managing

Why WinME/XP boot disk doesn't work with MEMDISK
It appears that the WinME/XP DOS boot disk links code into the INT 15h AH=87h "mover" function which crashes the system DELIBERATELY (it puts the system in a cli/hlt/jmp loop.) I first thought it was specific to MEMDISK, but it's not; calling this function under just about any circumstances from within this version of DOS seems to crash the system hard. It's possible

WinME
Hi, Is there any way to run win32 applications emulating winME. I'm talking about the ie6 setup tool. (I can't connect to the internet under windows). I'm running wine-010623-stripped from daily wine and am using glibc 2.1.3 on a Redhat 6.2 system.
