I got it working with wine, yay... And it's entirely playable but two problems puzzle me. Number one: The sound is lagging behind. I shoot and then about 1 second later, the gun makes a noise. Now the gun fires instantly but the sound is just delayed. (the same with all sound in half-life, no other game though). Anyone else had this problem? Number two: Performance is still rather poor.

K I finally got HL to start correctly by not using my installed win98 as base. Now when I try to join a game in Counterstrike I get an "selected opengl mode not supported by your hardware" error from HL. This is only the case when I select the 3DfxMiniGL Driver (as I got a voodoo3). With Default opengl driver it works, but i get 4 fps. With Softwaremode I get 15fps but thats both

I have an isp that uses NAT/PAT. So all incoming traffic is blocked except UDP connection (for example the Quake3 Arena server works). Is there any streaming server that listen on an UDP port the incoming connection? Well I've read all the docs/howtos for this and it's still not working for me. Everytime I try to do a 'wine hl.exe' it gives me the good ol' opengl is not supported on this device error. Hello! I`ve got Problems to get Half-Life to work with wine. When I try to start Half-Life i just get a small part of the hl menu displayed. In the upper left corner there just appears a little "Konsole" icon, and wine hangs. Maybe Wine is not compatible with the German Version of HL? Thanks, Stephan

For some reason TCP/IP apps (Ultima Online, mIRC, etc.) work fine, but when I go to browse servers for Internet Games in Half Life / Counterstrike / etc.. can't get a server list, no error, just 0 servers. I've installed several Windows 98 games on the Linux end of my computer using Wine, and I must say I'm impressed that they run on Linux as opposed to Win XP. The games install correctly, and the configuration files for them work as well. When I try to run the games though, they begin as expected and get as far as changing the screen resolution when it logs me off of my OS unexpectedly!

Hi all, I got Half-Life installed successfully (yeah! :) and I can launch it, too. Next I set up some settings, e.g. cd key, video mode etc. But HL doesn't save these values. Next time I start HL, I'm asked again for the cd key etc. I think that's a problem with the registry. But I don't know which trees to edit to save this stuff. Any hints? Thanks, Tilman

When I run half-life under Codeweavers Wine, it says it cannot validate the cd. I tried cracking it under windows 4 times with different cracks, and they work under windows, but in wine it says my executable has been edited. When I had just plain wine that came iwth mydistro (suse 7.2), it worked fine. I have no idea what to do and what is causing this. Thanks! Matt

Decided to try wine to run games so I did not need to dual boot with windows. I downloaded steam first because it looked like it worked well in wine. Steam is working great. Downloaded Amnesia, the Dark Descent first and tried it out. It runs great. Decided to try Half-Life 2 and I get the Valve screen then it goes black for a second then the screen is just a bunch of random pixels. I am a
