pdfmerge and ghostscript-8.70-6.el5_7.6.x86_64
Everyone,
It looks like pdfmerge is broken after the recent upgrade of gs to
ghostscript-8.70-6.el5_7.6.x86_64. Has anyone else had this problem. I
have just started trying to debug it. If any of you already have
solutions please let me know.
Thanks,

[PATCH] Check for, and uninstall, VMware Tools installed from tarball
VMware Tools can be installed by RPM or from a tarball. We were only looking for
the RPM. If it was installed by tarball, we would end up leaving it in place. If
VMware Tools detects that it is not running on a VMware platform when it starts,
it will clumsily try to uninstall itself, leading to misconfiguration.
This patch looks for tarball-installed VMware Tools and uninstalls it.

autoconf test for building dtrace USDT probes?
X.Org has adopted GNU autoconf as its build configuration mechanism,
so when I integrated the dtrace probes, I checked to see if they
should be built using this test, checking for the existence of a
program named "dtrace" in the path:
dnl Check for dtrace program (needed to build Xserver dtrace probes)

tcp redirect questions
Hi there. Currently, our network design has two ISP
lines and 3 subnets for LAN. Below are some details :-
eth0 - isp1
eth1 - isp2
eth2 - subnet1
eth3 - subnet2
eth4 - subnet3
What i wanted to do is to assign incoming port 80 to
our local squid server running on the firewall itself
and assigned it to eth0(ISP1). I think it shouldnt be
a problem as /etc/shorewall/rules provides a sample of

pam_winbind vs. pam_ldap ?
Greetings, All!
I'm using Samba 3.6 and OpenLDAP currently.
The core configuration has been done eons ago, and I'm not quite sure it is
actual any more. I see a number of PAM-related errors every time the system
boot up. One concerning me is
Jan 28 02:31:21 daemon1 perl: pam_ldap: error trying to bind as user "uid=root,ou=Users,dc=darkdragon,dc=lan" (Invalid credentials)

Cannot enable "Enable advanced printing features"
Hi all.
I'm trying to use Samba to replace an old Windows print server, and
everything works just like a charm - almost...
There's one thing, which prevents my organization from accepting this new
printerserver, and that is that I'm unable to activate and save the "Enable
advanced printing features" setting for the printers - this is used to allow
for printing multiple

Samba 3.0.24, CentOS 4.4, x86_64.
One Samba-only PDC, two BDC's and several Linux member servers using

SePrintOperatorPrivilege to a user on the PDC and BDC's, then "rpc rights

If I do this on a member server, I

[PATCH 0/2] v2v: uninstall VMware tools on all Linux guests
Hi,
this patch series attempt to uninstall VMware tools on all the Linux
guests, and reduce the uninstallation time needed in some cases:
- v2v tries to workaround the slowest part of the tarball-installed
VMware tools
- v2v uninstalls the open source VMware tools (open-vm-tools)
Thanks,

Wiki Centos contribute
Good morning,
After using the Linux distribution mandriva and Debian since 2004 and made
some modest contributions (translation), I would like to invest in the
distribution CentOS, starting with the writing, translation and howto
articles, and that my experiences on other distributions and problems would
be an advantage.

How do you make wine do real uninstalls?
I have tried installing various GPS/topo map software suites on
four Fedora machines under wine. On three of them, the install claims to
succeed; the suite fails even to launch; I try to uninstall it; the
uninstall either admits failure, or pretends to succeed while leaving the
software still there and clickable (but, of course, not launchable).
On one, I then ran a Fedora search (beagle, I

lost association for .RData files
Somehow I have lost the correct file association for .RData files. They
are now associated with a text file editor. When I right click on any
.RData file and try to change the association, R is not listed as a
choice of program. I browse to c:\Program Files\R\rw2001\bin\Rgui.exe
and select that file to open .RData, but Windows does not then place
Rgui.exe in the list of programs to use. I can
