Newbie Trying To Get Ghost Recon To Install
Hello,
I'm new to using WINE (and to these lists), so I apologize if this has
been asked and answered already: Has anyone been able to get Ghost Recon
to at least install? The autorun program came up just fine, but when I
click the button to install, it promptly quits. I tried running the
setup.exe program directly, and it gets as far as trying to setup and
install shield wizard, and then

Sudden Strike Demo
Hi all,
I have been struggling with Codeweaver's wine for some time now and I have
run into a strange problem with the demo of Sudden Strike - when I start the
demo, I get a choice between different resolutions and buttons for "start",
"readme" and "quit".
The strange thing is that if I click on the "start", wine gives me the
"readme"! The

winver & managed question
Hello All,
I have just been reading the docs on Wine and came across the
--managed Allow the window manager to manage created windows
--winver Version to imitate
(win95,nt40,win31,nt2k,win98,nt351,win30,win20)
Does the "--managed" allow my xserver to take care of the windows?
Also, if I set "--winver nt2k" then does this mean that Wine will

...libntdll.so - undefined symbol "wine_ldt_copy"
I'm running Mandrake 8.1 (Cooker).
I get the subject error when I try to start wine. I've tried the latest
wine version (20010629) and the next to latest version. Same result.
I've tried rebuilding wine on my machine. That's successful but error
remains
Anyone know what this is and how to make it go away?

mapping a directory
Hello All,
I have installed the latest Wine onto my Linux Redhat 7.2 and it
seems to run very well for the most part.
I can easily map a Linux directory to a Windows drive, but I actually
have a need to be able to map a linux directory to windows
subdirectory. About the only way that I can currently think of that
might work would be to use a symbolic link on the Linux subsystem.
cheers,

Netscape/Mozilla: Windows plugins via Wine?
Many useful Netscape plugins don't come in Linux versions. Is it

If so, how?

Linux C++ program using 3rd-party DLL?
Hi,
I'm working with a spectrometer at an research institute but they only
have windows 16-bit dll to control the sprectrometer. The dll is documented.
My question is: Can I write a linux c++ program that uses this dll with
wine?
On the wine webpage it says "Optional use of external vendor DLLs" but
how do I do it? On a first glance I have also not found any hints on
that in

CD-ROM not recognized
Howdy Folks,
I'm trying to run Cryo's Arthur's Knights under wine. I've managed to
install using setup.exe, but when I go to play the game, I get an error
message telling me to insert CD #1, even though CD #1 is in the CD-ROM
tray and mounted.
Any clues as to why I would be getting this message, how to convince the
game that the CD is actually in the CD-ROM drive, or how to

Kid Pix Studio Deluxe and Wine?
Does Kid Pix Studio Deluxe run under Wine?
An elementary school I visited recently was running
that program on all their Windows machines, and wouldn't
consider switching to Linux unless it was supported.
winehq.com doesn't resolve in DNS for me tonight :-(
so I can't check the database. I don't have a copy
myself, so I can't test it personally. (Hmm, maybe

half-life cd doesnt recognize
When I run half-life under Codeweavers Wine, it says it cannot validate the
cd. I tried cracking it under windows 4 times with different cracks, and
they work under windows, but in wine it says my executable has been edited.
When I had just plain wine that came iwth mydistro (suse 7.2), it worked
fine. I have no idea what to do and what is causing this. Thanks!

DirectX 8.0
Hi,
I'm trying to install the game "Aquanox" under Wine which needs DirectX 8.0.
I've found a mail in the wine mailing list archive stating that wine already
includes DirectX, but Aquanox keeps complaining about a missing d3d8.dll.
Trying to install DirectX 8.0, I end up with "DirectX couldn't be installed
on this computer".
Any hints on this one?

Key mapping problem (Endnote)
Dear fellow Wine users,
It was to my recent delight that I found that EndNote 3 will
work usably under Wine. However, it does seem to display
a slightly odd problem when certain keys are pressed.
In essence, the problem seems to be that certain keys,
when pressed, generate two keystrokes. So for example,
pressing RETURN moves down two lines, pressing BACKSPACE
deletes two characters, pressing

GetCurrentThreadId()
Does anyone have any ideas as to why my application always crashes on calls
to "kernel32.GetCurrentThreadId()"?
Every time I call GCTID I get:
- a call to UnhandledExceptionFilter()
- producing an "Unhanded privileged instruction at address 0x40112584"
message box (which I've never seen popup, I only know it happens because I'm
reading the --debugmsg +relay output.)

wine 20010824 and missing command line options
Hi all,
I recently compiled and installed a new version of wine (20010824). Everything works fine, but alot of command line options are missing.
The options I get with wine --help are: --debugmsg name, --dll name, --dosver x.xx, --help,-h, --managed, --version,-v, --winver.
I miss commandline options like: --desktop and --display. Are they no longer supported?
Thanx for any hints,
michael

Word 2000 on Wine
I keep hearing that Ian Schmidt figured out how to get Word 2000 to work
under Wine. Well, his domain comes up unknown and all references I have
seen on this subject hyperlink to his defunct URL.
Has anyone out there got Word 2000 installed on W2K to work under wine?
I'm using FreeBSD Codeweaver port but any success from anyone be it Red
Hat, Mandrake, etc would be appreciated.
