Flash 5 on Mandrake 8.0
Hey now-
I'm trying to get Flash 5 installed using the default version of Wine
that came with my Mandrake 8.0 installation. I am using Wine configured
to use a "fake windows" partition, run in Windows 98 mode, and run
within an X window. I can get the installer program for Flash 5 to start
and being unpacking, but right after the unpacking of the .cab files I
get an error

I would like to create a Samba share supporting named writers, named readers, and no guests ...
I have not hit on the correct combination of parameters. Closest I come
still allows the readers to modify - but not create - files. Not what I
want. If someone can give me a hint, I would really appreciate it. Thank
you.
If I do this, reader1 can see the files (good), cannot create files (good),
but can modify (write) existing files (bad!)

I'm training a set of data with Caret package using an elastic net (glmnet).
Most of the time train works ok, but when the data set grows in size I get
the following error:

and several warnings like this one:

Fonts too small in Photopaint 9 for Linux
Hi,
I've got Photopaint 9 running fine under Mandrake 8 after running the
postinst script. But, fonts used by Photopaint is so small and it is
inconvenient to look at...
My resolution is 1024x768 on GeForce2MX and Philips 105S (15").
After reading the Wine documentation, I changed the following:
Resolution = 120 (from 96)
In wine.conf under the [fonts] section, then logout, restart X

deconv
I'm translating a matlab routine to R and I need some equivalent to deconv():
Description: deconv()
[q,r] = deconv(v,u) deconvolves vector u out of vector v, using long
division. The quotient is returned in vector q and the remainder in
vector r such that v = conv(u,q)+r .
If u and v are vectors of polynomial coefficients, convolving them is
equivalent to multiplying the two polynomials, and

Wine and Crossover
Hey, I am new here but I wanted to know what code differences are there in crossover wine and opensource wine. I know the crossover uses wineloader to load programs and in opensource wine it uses mwine. So there must be some code difference.
Any help is appreciated

RDig and AAF playing together
I have a site with two indexes. Index A is created offline by RDig
and queried from the web via RDig (specifically,
RDig.searcher.search). Index B is managed by AAF with :remote =>
true. Simple enough. However, I need to query both indexes from RDig.
Usually this is ok, as I modified RDig to accept an array of
search_paths with an element for index A and index B.
However, when Index

basic handling of data.frame
Hello,
I'm new to R but wan't to use it to compute the statistics of my medical study.
The study includes several parameters for a number of patients. Each
parameter was assessed by a number of readers, once with a special
condition, once without.
Now I have a data.frame with colums like:
PatientID, ReaderID, SpecialCond(yes/no), Parameter1, Parameter2.....
the rows are not sorted, and

memory
Hi,
I have a matrix with 700.000 x 10.000 cells with floating point data.
I would like to work with the entire table but I have a lot of memory
problems. I have read the ?memory
I work with Win 2000 with R2.1.0
The only solution that I have applied is:
> memory.limit(size=2048)
But now my problems are:
- I need to work with more than 2 Gb. How I can exceed this limit?
- When apply some

Hypothetical question - for the devs...
Hello everybody.
I know this is user forum - but I also know that developers "lurks" in here from time to time. So I would like to ask... what do you (developers) think is the biggest issue in wine development? Is it money? How much would wine development process speed up if Codewavers would start selling... let say, 10 times more licenses for Crossover then they sell now? Would it be a

Wine + Windows Partition + Registry
I have a windows partition (XP), with a few applications I'd like to
run on it while in BSD:
Microsoft Office XP (for the occasional doc that OO doesn't like)
Corel Photopaint 9 or X3
Trillian (not needed but would be nice)
and a few games.
The games run fine, pretty much like in windows, but they have fewer
directx errors and crashes :-)
Office gets annoyed when I open winword.exe in

Help with Multiple Readers, 1 Writer scenario
Hi,
I''m building a web server application using Ferret [thanks so much
Dave], Mongrel and Camping which works fine servicing one request at a
time, but serialises searches if more than one request arrives, so I''d
like some advice please about the best way to use multiple readers and
one writer.
Some background ... query requests which in my case are always read
only, arrive via

Wine for command line only
Hi;
I think I have a very simple question but I can't find an answer to it.
I need to run one command line windows executable with no dlls on my
MacPro. Runs fine under Parallels/xp, but I would like to run it under
the bash shell script from the Mac/Unix terminal.
I "installed" the Darwine x86 package by copying it to the applications
folder. Not surprisingly, not having it

Hello,
I?m willing to pay $500 to the person that can help me. Of course, free help would be even better :-)
I want to get the software at http://www.verydoc.com/dwg-to-vector.htm to run under wine. This program converts dwg to swf (flash). It?s a command line program that I want to integrate it into a web app.
I can get the conversion tool to give me it?s help message by running ?wine
