[success] VB3 Program "Watchtower Library" now works
Hi! Some time ago I wrote about two problems, which I encountered when trying to run a VB3 program with Wine. The program is called "Watchtower Library". The search function crashed. With debugging and disassembling of a .vbx I later found out that the program itself was bailing out and not wine. But I had no idea how to remedy the problem. The tooltips (in the program called

cvs010626 flickering borders before main window drawn
This problem is new since _after_ wine010510.tar.gz and keeps showing up in cvs010626. Again the same VB3 application. The splash screen appears and the main window (which consists only of a bunch of buttons) is started to be prepared. In a flickering way many frames or borders appear (empty) and when finally the splash screen disappears the main window gets drawn correctly. Then the problem does

different font and window behaviour w/ diff X servers
Hi: Like Gerard Patel mentioned on the developer's list I can confirm that Wine's behaviour _is_ now very dependant on which X server is used and to top it: also this behaviour is varying quite a bit depending on the Windows application which is run. I have font problems with XF86_SVGA on a Trident Video-107PCI (cheapy-cheapy) and not with XF86_S3 on a Diamond 2000 3D (old). The problem

X11DRV problem? (Backtrace)
Hi y'all: Is this a X11DRV problem? This happens on a RedHat 7.2 installation of a friend who is in Turkey and has no usenet access. So I'm posting in behalf of him. He is running a 16-bit VB3 application and the debugger shows up with this unhandeled exception as soon as he acceses the program's search function. However he can "cont" and the program behaves fine

Presumed bug found in SCROLL_GetPtrScrollInfo
Hi all. We have a win32 application linked to Far Point's Spread32 library; the application crashes when referencing a NULL pointer returned by GlobalLock, but obviously it runs perfectly under win98SE (see previous post about GetWindowLongA) . The behaviour of SCROLL_GetPtrScrollInfo, with nBar parameter = SB_CTL, is to return wndPtr->wExtra as it were a pointer. Actually we found that,

A bug in WIN_SetWindowLong ?
Hi all. While debugging some program, I discovered what looks like a bug. Please be patient if I'm wrong. In the WIN_SetWindowLong function, in order to get the address of wExtra, there is: ptr = (LONG *)(((char *)wndPtr->wExtra) + offset); but this takes the *CONTENT* of wndPtr->wExtra. The correct code should be ptr = (LONG *)(((char

wine.conf and starcraft
Hi, I just downloaded the .rpm for wine version 20010629 and I have gotten it to work, but I can't find wine.conf anywhere, how do I configure wine? Also I have gotten it to run starcraft, but there are two problems: Doubleclicking doesn't work, and neither do it seem to respond to the keyboard. -- Jan-Fredrik Braseth www.ifi.uio.no/~janfbr/ 2B|!2B

Install wine, dependency problem, newbie woes
Downloaded wine from codeweavers and tried to install with Kpackage. "Needs libXv.so.1" Tried locating lib* with Google, but Google comes up with packages with different names. Maybe the lib I need is part of a larger library. So, where to find what I need, and then what to do with it (eg. just copy to /lib)?? Thanks in advance for clues, dave

font metrics updated on each program launch
Everytime I start a program with wine-20010629 on Red Hat Linux, font metrics get updated. I am getting fonts through the Xserver (no xfont server) (currently M$, ghostscript, Type1, misc and 75dpi fonts) Is this behaviour normal? Everytime this happens, I get lots of output like fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo DBCS fonts like '-urw-century schoolbook

Ahead Nero 5.0
Hello! I started to use wine (Wine release 20010326) just a few weeks ago. It seems to work fine. I have a Windows 98 (first edition) installation on an extra partition which should be used by wine. I run SuSE 7.2 with kernel 2.4.4 on an AMD K6-II 350 MHz with 192 MB RAM. I do not know anything about debuggers or programming in C, C+ or something. I tried to run the CDR-burning software Nero

BadMatch on X_CreateCursor (cvs 010712)
Hello: On attempt to display text in a box by clicking on a tree item in another box (all in one window) I get BadMatch(invalid parameter attributes) with X_CreateCursor. The application attempts to change the mouse pointer shape, shows the pointer as a circle with a diagonal bar (like the european sign for "no parking") and hangs. The app is not supposed to show this mouse pointer

My remark on libraries
Hi R community, These days, I am writing some functions to work with 2-ways frequency tables ; you know all this tuff about measures of association: Chisq and derived (phi, cramer's v), tau b, tau c, somer's d and so on. So I consider all those functions could be gathered in a single R file, as they are coherent and dealing with the same problem / objective (analysis of crosstables).

R 4.0 for ARM processors
2 years ago at one Meetup in Paris, Marc Girondot, professor at University Paris-Saclay, presented his cluster built with 12 Odroid (equivalent to Rapsberry Pi). The stack was almost the same size than your picture as there was no fan and a narrower distance between each PCB card. There were many more cables. For a total cost of less than 1000 ? and an electrical consumption reduced by a
