Stupid question: where is the Preferences box?
Good day! I am GUI-challenged, and proud of it, but I would like a bit of help. When I start netscape (picked from an Earthlink CD) it raises a message box that says (this is picked from --debugmsg +text and folded for mailing convenience): trace:text:DrawTextExW L"Error: temporary directory E: does not exist. Please enter a new directory in the preferences box.", 99 , [(0,0),(264,0)]

fatal signal 11
I downloaded the latest wine from the cvs site and ran its ./tools/wineinstall. It ran for quite a while and croaked on /wine/server/semaphore.c. Basically, gcc says "Internal compiler error: program cc1 bog fatal signal 11". The compiler is 2.91.66 (aka egcs-1.1.2 release) and compiles other programs including 2.4.1 & 2.4.2 Linux kernels just fine. I am puzzled what 'fatal

Cannot even compile Wine
Hello, I am not great at figuring out compilation problems - usually I just curse and give up. Trying to compile Wine from binaries I get the following error, anyone knows what's wrong and can offer some help on how to get it to work? (the stuff at the top was cut out to save space) ----- make[2]: Leaving directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/specmaker' cd `dirname

WINE install Error
I need some help. I have downloaded the latest WINE tarball (731) and managed to get through the ./configure stage, installing rpms as needed. However, when WINE installs it gives me these set of errors: "cd `dirname wrc/__depend__` && make depend make[2]: Entering directory `/mnt/windows/Vault/Wine/wine/wine-20010731/tools/wr c' yacc -bppy -ppp -d -t ./ppy.y make[2]: yacc:

Need Wine-20001222.tar.gz
Hi, I have an application that I use that only worked on Wine-20001222 and a few earlier versions. I accidentally deleted my copy and when I tried to download it again, it was no longer posted on any of the sites that I know that carry the source files. If somebody could send me another link to a site for downloading or even email the program to me would be great. Thanks, Ken -- Kenton

Recent wines on RH7/kernel-2.4.0
I'm not running RedHat(running Debian rather), but I've run Wine under 2.4.0, 2.4.1 and 2.4.2-pre3 kernels without any trouble. LANG=en_US, Xlib: connnection errors
This is odd but I'm trying to get the most elementary sides of WINE down. I have gotten it to attempt to run write.exe out of my windows directory. but upon doing so it comes up with the LANG errors which I don't think is catastrophic. (I might be wrong) and then it comes up with these errors: Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Invalid MIT_MAGIC_COOKIE-1 key

rh7.2 starts wine in runlevel 3!
installing the wine rpm that comes with red hat 7.2 works -- unless you switch to runlevel 3! Then the wine startup script runs, and fails. Since wine depends on X, it should only run in runlevel 5! - Dan

During the compile of Wine, everything goes smoothly until I hit ntdll.spec. As soon as it enters the directory ntdll, it segfaults. Which wine do I download?
Ok, This is kind of a stupid question. I've worked with Windows for awhile, but I really don't like it. Linux was suggested by a friend of mine. I've got Linux Mandrake 7.1 deluxe, and I'm not sure which version of wine I should download. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanx. Jeremiah Holland Emperoroftheice5@cs.com
