rcov including ruby lib
When I run spec:rcov on my continuous integration server, the rcov
report is including many other libraries in the report, including
some from standard lib and gems. Has anyone else had this problem or
have any ideas for how to limit it just to coverage of code in app/
and lib/?
Thanks,
Brandon

Specifying views
I''m trying to spec my views with 0.7.1 on edge rails per the

Rspec Textmate bundle errors
Hello all,
Having a problem with the Rspec textmate bundle and having quizzed
the guys in #textmate to no success about the errors, I''ve been
suggested to try you guys!
When I run the "Run Behaviour Description" command, I get the
following errors:

shared hosting for an ISP
A hosting company has contacted me and is interested in providing
Ruby on Rails hosting for their customers. They provide both
dedicated and shared hosting. I know there are a lot of shared hosts
that support Rails, but most of them (that I''ve seen) are using
mod_fastcgi, or a similar setup. I''m curious what people think about
accomplishing this with mongrel with

Still recommend the plugins over the gems?

Is this still the case? Why?
Is the rspec_on_rails available in gem form?
Does rspec_generator

Mocking models provided in Rails plugins
Hey folks,
How do I mock a model that is given to me by a Rails plugin? I''m
trying to mock Session from the restful_authentication plugin but I
get a number of errors telling me RSpec doesn''t recognize Session.
NameError in ''SessionsController handling GET /sessions/new should be
successful''
uninitialized constant Session

can''t install model_security_generator
I''m trying to install Bruce Perens'' ModelSecurity gem, but it keeps asking me if I want to
install rails too (I have already installed rails). It exits if I say no and crashes if I
say yes:

RSpec getting too intimate?
I have a new blog post about some thoughts that I''ve had as I''ve been
using rspec lately. I would love to hear your thoughts:

shoulda tested better
We''ve made quite a few contributions in our facebooker fork (http://github.com/collectiveidea/facebooker
), but unfortunately, one thing some of our contributions have in
common with many others is the lack of testing. I want to change
that. I''d like to help lead an effort to make the facebooker tests
better.
One thing that I think would help is a little better

Specification Reuse to avoid Combinatorial Explosions
Hello,
While reading Dan North''s BDD tutorial <http://dannorth.net/introducing-bdd>,
I tried to implement his ATM example as spec stubs.
When I first implemented it creating a context for each of his scenarios, I
noticed that there is duplication and a combinatorial explosion of the
specs.
I attached the full files to this email. For brevity, I will use scenario 1

Coming Soon...
Dear spec''ers,
As many of you already know, we''re gearing up for a pretty big 0.8
release of RSpec in the next couple of weeks. I''m writing in advance
because I want to give you a heads up about upcoming changes and how
they may impact your existing specs.
Two important things to note first:
1. We will provide a translator that you''ll be able to use to

strange error on mock proxy
I''m banging my head over this really strange error in a view test when
I run "rake spec". The weird thing is that I don''t get the error when
I run the spec file by itself.
Here is the spec (I know, fixtures are the devil):

looking for a worker that''s gone
In my app, I store the job key when a worker is fired off and then
check back in periodically to see how its doing. The workers delete
themselves when they''re done. I would expect when I try to get a
worker that has been deleted, I would get nil or a proper exception,
but instead I get:
>> MiddleMan.worker(''foobar'')

The 2.3 branch and Rails Edge failing
I found Brandon''s 2.3 branch for Facebooker and thought I''d give that
a try to get around the problems I ran into starting script/server
with Rails Edge. Unfortunately, no go.
The error I get on start up is:

the vendor dir, gems and openid
Dear all,
I am currently developing an application which uses OpenID as a login
system. On my development box everything works like a charm. But as
soon as I deploy the code to our production server things go wrong.
First the OpenID gem could not be located. This made sense as it is not
installed on the production server, so after some browsing it appeared
that I needed:

Error with mongrel_rails start
When I make an empty Rails web application, and go through the steps
to create/include a database, and scaffold, mongrel_rails start (or
ruby script/server) works just fine. However, I attempted this with a
pre-existing web app and I got some errors.
First, I gathered the app''s folder (checked the contents, it has all
the folders plus one extra: components) and placed it under ruby/
