Wine or AOL being so clever?
Just installed Aim for win 98 using Wine, and it ended up putting a nice
Aim icon on my KDE desktop with the wine command in to start aim - i.e.
wine "/mnt/win98/Pro...."
This is getting really smooth!

Childrens Game: Barbie Pegasus does not run
Hello All,
I recently converted my wife over to Ubuntu 8.04 and wanted to do the same to my children's PC. I have checked AppDB and was unable to find a listing for this game already. I am testing their games in a virtual machine (VirtualBox) with Ubuntu 8.04 and wine-1.0-rc2. When I double-click on the icon for the game, it thinks for a minute like it was trying to launch but then

Fw: Example where PPR crashes
Dear all,
I have been doing tests using SVM, random forests and PPR. The data is from a data stream (that is, the data for training and for test is always increasing / changing). With SVM and random forests everything is ok, but with ppr there are situations where it crashes. For the examples I have used I noticed that if one of the variables has just one value (it can happen), it crashes for

Commands failing silently?
Hello all:
I have a couple CentOS 4 servers (all up-to-date) that are having strange
command failures. I first noticed this with a perl script that uses lots of
system calls.
Basically, sometimes a command just won't run:
thoth(52) /tmp> ls
thoth(53) /tmp> ls
thoth(54) /tmp> ls
thoth(55) /tmp> ls
learner lost+found/

Bridge() and Goto() and dialplan contexts, oh my!
I may or may not be experiencing the behavior described in:
http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=14241
I'm using asterisk-1.6.0.6, Bridge(), and I'm having a hangup context
executed when the caller is still on the line. These channels are all
SIP.

put, and let other learner callers come to them. In between the

A modern object-oriented machine learning framework in R
Estimadísimo Carlos:
Muchísimas gracias por responderme y
hacerlo tan rápido. Contemplé esa posibilidad, es decir, que el
hiperparámetro estuviera suponiendo un problema, y probé de esta forma:
> learner <- lrn("classif.ranger", num.trees = 5, mtry = NULL)
Error: Element with key 'classif.ranger' not found in DictionaryLearner!

Help with unstack() function
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to understand the unstack() function but after struggling for
two days, I have given up. More specifically, I am trying the exercises at
the end of Chapter 1 of Data Analysis and Graphics Using R by Maindonald
and Braun, 2nd ed. Exercise 18 (p. 41) asks to unstack the Rabbit data frame
from the MASS package to get a certain data frame that is shown in the
exercise.

Help with running childrens cd-rom in Xubuntu
Hello, I'm a newb with wine and not terribly bright with linux. I am
trying to get some of the kids' games to work in Xubuntu. I got wine
installed, and it seems I got the hot wheels game installed, after
finding that I needed to run everything as sudo. Now when I run the
program in the windows window I see a low-res video of a cd-rom being
inserted into a disk drive, presumably

My games go black
When I try to play Pharaoh (and sometimes Caesar 3) my screen becomes black
and the only thing to do is Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. I think Wine is still
running but the game has just stopped. Does Wine have some way of stopping
the program it's running? Even when I don't have access to the Eterm window
that I opened it in?

All games, black screen = configuration problem?
Dear community,
I am wondering what is my mistake. Since I got my new hardware components I didn't manage it to get a game running through WINE. My configuration is the following:
- current git WINE (compiled 30 minutes ago)
- Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid AMD64 (64 bit edt.)
- AMD ATi Radeon HD 2600XT graphics card
- ATI Catalyst / fglrx driver
A friend gave me his copy of Far Cry 2 and Sacred 2

A modern object-oriented machine learning framework in R
Estimados amigos:

Behaviour that I don't understand
I am trying to set up rsync as a daemon under WindowsXP (professional) in
order to be able to backup this machine on to a linux server. I am
struggling with an issue I don't understand. I don't know whether it is an
Rsync issue or a Cygwin issue, so I am asking both mailing lists.
My WindowsXP machine has ip address 192.168.0.25 and name rabbit.home

Policy routing question
Hi,
I have a testing multihome setup, with the default gateway being one of
the links and using policy routing to honor requests for a specific
link. Everything works as expected when I request a specific IP to bind
to. But if I request a specific interface things fall apart in ways that
I can not explain:

serial port problems: micro flashing
I am new to this mailing list. I apologize if any needed information is
missing.
I know this is a bit much to ask of wine's current serial port
implementation, I am hoping someone has maybe figured this out already?
Or can help me further the debugging process, I'd rather be part of the
solution then simply another complaint about wine's serial port.

Serial problem with Zworld
I just installed SuSE 7.3 linux including the supplied wine distro.
I'm trying to run a single board computer from Zworld called
the Rabbit. The specific app name is dcrab619.exe. The gui comes
up with no problem but when it tries to talk to the serial port
I get these messages from wine:

Clarification
List,
Being pretty new to CentOS and such, can someone answer a couple of
questions about yum and up2date? I think I got the basic info, but I'm
a bit confused about what does what.
I configured yum to use the dag repo (I think) but now and then, I
get the red circle from up2date stuff on the upper menubar. I have been
using the up2date function to grab the latest bits when
