Can't Compile Driver due to Missing version.h
Dear All,
I use a raid card on my Centos 5.4 server. Whenever I updated the
kernel, I used to compile drivers of the card for the new kernel. I have
done this many times in the past without any problem.
But this time after installing the new kernel files given below, I can
not compile the new driver anymore.

yum priorities question
Hello,
I have a question about working principles of yum.
Here are the details:
Installed package: GeoIP.i386 1.4.4-1.el5.centos
Repo: CentOS Extras
Priority for CentOS Extras repo: 1
"yum update" wants to replace the above package with the following:
Package: geoip.i386 1.4.5-1.el5.rf
Repo: rpmforge
Priority for rpmforge: 15
And yes, the following is already in the priorities.conf

File system goes read-only once in a while
Hi,
My Centos 5.2 server (5.1 suffered the same problem as well) has a
logical volume on a RAID 10 array (4 SATA harddisks on a Highpoint
RR2310 controller). /etc/fstab has an entry for this array as below
/dev/raid_vg0/raid_lv0 /mnt/raid ext3 defaults 0 0
Normally it works OK. But, file system of "this volume" once in a while
goes "read only"

internal messages problem with postfix
Hello,
After a server crash, I re-installed postfix, cyrus-imapd, amavisd-new,
spamassassin on a Centos 5.1 box. But, now mail system behaves somewhat
different.
There is no problem with mail receiving/sending from/to internet.
Before the crash, mail system used to sent internal messages to
root at example.com. But now, I can't receive internal messages as it tries
to send them to root

[root at server aa]# ls -b #for octal escapes

However, ls|less, ls|more or vi <directory name> all display filename

Live CD boot for KVM guest. How?
Hi,
My host and guest are CentOS 6. The guest is going to be a web server in
production. I am trying to resize (extend) of the base partition of my
guest. But I can of course start the installation of CentOS 6 guest all
over again with a larger image size. However, just for the sake of
better understanding I an trying to solve things not to be end up in a
dead end after some years.

Configure wireless USB ethernet
I have a system that does *not* have a graphical desktop installed, nor do
I ever plan to. I have its wired ethernet working just peachy. Now I want
to configure a USB wireless ethernet and scratching my head. Particularly
since I don't use NetworkManager, everything is manually configured.
That said, if I enable NM, I see this in /var/log/messages:

USB to Ethernet problem
Hello All,
?I installed Centos 6.5 64 bit on a Dell Vostro 1550 laptop with i3 core. The kernel installed was 2.6.32-431.el6.x86_64. I was not able to compile kernel modules, even after installing the kernel headers, kernel source rpms.
?So I downloaded the kernel linux-3.10.31.tar.xz, extracted it, and did the following:
make defconfig
change CONFIG_USB_USBNET=y, in the .config.
make

Hi all,
I'm facing a serious problem with the e100e kernel module for Intel

How did you mount your cephfs filesystem?

CTDB potential locking issue
Hi Martin
I just found the file, it's a config file that about 250 hosts read every
half an hour so it makes sense this is getting some contention. However,
the strange thing is, the share the file is in is a read-only share:
[dist$]
comment = Windows dist
path = /path/to/share
wide links = Yes
browseable = Yes
read only = Yes
guest only = Yes

CTDB potential locking issue
Hi All
I have a newly implemented two node CTDB cluster running on CentOS 7, Samba
4.7.1
The node network is a direct 1Gb link
Storage is Cephfs
ctdb status is OK
It seems to be running well so far but I'm frequently seeing the following
in my log.smbd:

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switc h (or hub); product idea
That'd be the 3CNJP24SE, we have one that powers 3COM NJ-200's. Works well.
