Back to Xfce
Now that the basic server is up and running.? With Gnome via VNC (yuck), it is time to go back and figure out howto install Xfce without an Xfce group script.? So I am asking those with X64 Centos for some pointers.? Like where are the group scripts so maybe I can modify them for armhfp. I was reading: https://www.rootusers.com/how-to-install-xfce-gui-in-centos-7-linux/ Where the author

Installing xfce on CentOS 5.3?
I would like to install xfce from the "extras" repo - but when I run: yum groupinstall XFCE-4.4 I get: Warning: Group XFCE-4.4 does not exist. Also 'yum grouplist' appears to only show the base groups ... Is there anything else I have to do to install xfce? Thanks James Pearson

Strange problem with CentOS 7 and guest additions in VirtualBox
Hi, I'm having a very weird problem with CentOS as a VirtualBox guest. Let me explain it step by step. tl;dr: I can install VirtualBox Guest Additions and configure a fullscreen 1280x1024 graphical resolution on a full install, but not on a reduced install with a lightweight window manager. Here's what I did. 1. Install vanilla CentOS 7 with KDE. 2. Boot to reduced 1024x768

making my own group repo - Re: Back to Xfce
I tried making my own repo with just the groups in them and I got an error.... I used: #createrepo -g /root/mygroups.xml /root/myrepo Saving Primary metadata Saving file lists metadata Saving other metadata Generating sqlite DBs Sqlite DBs complete Where /root/mygroup.xml is attached below. Then I made: cat > /etc/yum.repos.d/myrepo.repo << EOF [myrepo] name=My repo for armhfp

Nvidia, vncserver, >> xfce = Resolved Issue
The suggestion from Marco to try a non-3D DE worked. I tried two methods: 1. minimal Centos 7 install and xfce install via CLI. Worked fine. 2. Gnome Centos 7 install and then xfce install via yum groupinstall. Worked fine. One tip for anyone doing this: After starting vncserver the first time, it creates a ~/.vnc/xstartup file. This will be the same type of session if you logged in locally.

Installing a gnome-desktop on CENTOS-6.3 following minimal system install.
I am still trying without much success to get a desktop on my minimal + virtualization install of a CentOS-6.3 kvm host. When I run startx I get a desktop but other than the icons for computer, home and trash there is nothing displayed. I can right click the mouse and from there I can open a terminal window and creat a folder on the desktop but I have no title bar and no status bar. There are
