Dell HSPA 5530 - Built-in 3G - Not detected
Hi all,
I have been trying to get CentOS 5.5 running on my Laptop for a while now.
I am currently running Fedora 13 for the only reason that my Dell Wireless
HSPA 5530 built-in 3G Mobile Device is working.
I have tried loading the bcm43xx modules after reading several posts on
Google but not able to get this working at all.
I have run CentOS on my servers for a while now and love it. Just this

CentOS 6.x cr repo
Team CentOS,
Just writing to thank you a lot for the CentOS 6.1 packages made
available on the 26th of September.
I haven't gone through what updates exactly you guys released in the cr
repository but I am well impressed with the improvements.
Great timing as my RHEL self-support contract was due for renewal and I
am so pleased with the refreshed packages, it now works on my ThinkPad

CentOS 6 : Tip for significantly increasing battery life / reducing power consumption (Thinkpad X220 Tablet)
Hello,
I was not happy with the power consumption of CentOS 6 x86_64 on a new
Lenovo Thinkpad x220 Tablet and I worked on reducing it. I just wanted
to share with the list one of the changes which gave me the most
significant improvement.
As per http://www.williambrownstreet.net/blog/?p=387, add the
following kernel arguments to the GRUB boot configuration:

EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
I was wondering what feedback might be offered by the CentOS community on their
experiences using Scientific Linux?
I'm a long-time Centos user, and am basically happy with CentOS. I understand
there are delays getting EL 6 out. We have been long anxious to roll out EL 6
as soon as it's ready, but our time window for rollout is looming and we will
need to act. (for business reasons,

[PATCH v1] ACPI: Switch to use generic UUID API
acpi_evaluate_dsm() and friends take a pointer to a raw buffer of 16
bytes. Instead we convert them to use uuid_le type. At the same time we
convert current users.
acpi_str_to_uuid() becomes useless after the conversion and it's safe to
get rid of it.
The conversion fixes a potential bug in int340x_thermal as well since
we have to use memcmp() on binary data.

Unfortunately, this patch did not apply cleanly.
There were two problems; one in src/flac/main.c that was easy and
obvious to fix, the other in include/share/compat.h.

Portal + Intel HD Graphics 3000 + Ubuntu Natty
I just set up my new Lenovo ThinkPad X220 for use with Ubuntu Natty. All is well (even the function keys work!) except for 3D games. I'm not asking a lot here - these are games that are supposed to run at least decently on a HD 3000 accelerator.
So far I've tried Amnesia: The Dark Descent, it's Linux-native demo, and Portal. ADD loads to it's menu, but nothing (like 3D

R and SAS
Hi
I'm trying to read SAS-data on VAX/VMS to Windows R using
foreign pakage read.xport and experience some problems.
Following lines are used in SAS to create XPORT file
LIBNAME a ''xxx;
LIBNAME b XPORT '';
PROC COPY IN=a OUT=b;
RUN;
and I succeed in getting file that looks like correct xport
file.However

multiple isp + nat
I configured multiple isp (actually only multiple gw) according
http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html.
Now NAT (Internet) seems to work, both external interfaces work ( I
didnt configure load balancing because I dont need it). However I have
problem that I can not ping from NAT to public ip of my Linux box.
Problem is that I can not connect from 192.168.1.0/24 network to
