pan reader and gmime
Running: yum list available | grep -i gmime shows results for CentOS 5, but not for CentOS 6. It seems to be needed by my pan. What should I do? Thanks, Mike.

What is the recommended method to obtain Pan 0.136+ (with SSL) for Centos 6?
Q: What is the recommended method to obtain Pan 0.136+ (with SSL) for Centos 6? I've been successfully using Pan 0.135 from the RPMForge repository for about a year now: $ yum --noplugins --showduplicates --enablerepo \* --disablerepo c6-media,\*-source,\*debug\* provides "*/pan" ==> 1:pan-0.135-1.el6.rf.x86_64 : The Pan Newsreader ==> Repo : installed $ sudo yum

This isn't supposed to be difficult (how to nntp post to the Gmane Pan user group)
I realize this is (mostly) off topic, but I'm befuddled as to *how* one can post to the Gmane Pan Users' group (gmane.comp.gnome.apps.pan.user) using any nntp USENET client (e.g., Pan, on Centos). I'm already subscribed (by having sent an email to pan-users at nongnu.org); but I just want that USENET group to work like *this* USENET group, where I can post using a server:port

Pan in 6.2??
I can't seem to get a way to install Pan in CentOS, and I need it badly. I follow most busy lists, including this one, on Gmane using Pan (and, no, Gmane per Web is no use to me. I have some obscure allergy to webmail). Does anyone know an rpm (one of Fedora's, for instance) that I can install and not immerse myself in dependency hell?

Adding browsers
Recently, I put CentOS 6.4 on one of the four PCs I keep behind a KVM switch. I like it a whole lot in most ways, but Fedora has spoiled me : I install almost every browser I can, and generally keep half a dozen or more open, mostly with several tens of tabs open. Iow, I use browsers as I used to use books, back in the Carboniferous when I had a desk in the stacks. Are there ways a

Search for a usable pan manual
Hello, I'm looking for a more descriptive manual/tutorial/paper for the pan package. The provided manual and example do not contain any useful hints how to specify a model with more than one variable and leaves several questions unanswered. This also applies to the referred paper "Schafer: Imputation of missing covariates under a multivariate linear mixed model." Can anyone

PAN: Need Help for Multiple Imputation Package
Hello all. I am trying to run PAN, multilevel multiple imputation program, in R to impute missing data in a longitudinal dataset. I could successfully run the multiple imputation when I only imputed one variable. However, when I tried to impute a time-varying covariate as well as a response variable, I received an error message, “Error: subscript out of bounds.” Can anyone tell if my commands

Http links not active in a windows newsreader
Hello, I'm using Wine 1.1.41 and the Windows newsreader "40tude Dialog", with Mandriva 2010.0. If in Dialog I click a "mailto:" link, everything is OK, Kmail opens a message. If I click an http link, nothing happens. So, I launched Dialog via a terminal, and here are the error messages when I click an http link : > err:winebrowser:get_url_from_dde Unable to

# chkconfig: kill at run level 3
In the control script of my daemon in /etc/init.d?, I have # chkconfig: 35 97 3 The result of this is that I have links: /etc/rc.d/rc1.d/K03... /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S97... /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S97... As mentioned in a previous thread, my complex daemon throws an exception when I shutdown. Perhaps things might be better if I had: /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/K03... Might this be a good idea? If so,

CentOS 6: Making KDE Default
I learned from Anne that if I boot to level 5, after I enter the username, can select Gnome or KDE. I note that the default is always Gnome. How can I make the default KDE? How can I get KDE with startx after booting to level 3? Thanks, Mike.

How to navigate (zoom, pan) in a plot/graph
Hello all, I need to zoom in and out and "travel"(pan) inside a plot, like you can do on a Matlab plot. If possible, I would also like the option to use the mouse to set a marker on the graph and get the (x,y) data for it, again, like in Matlab. Is this possible in R with the regular packages, or do you maybe know a different package that will allow this? Eran. * * [[alternative

[linux-audio-user] CHANGES to pan.zipcon.net
Changes at http://pan.zipcon.net 1) header info now on all files 2) 7 recordings are added: 4 flute, 1 piano, 1 duo-piano and 1 bassoon 3) TO DO: record jacket info Thanks for the many comments and criticisms. They are needed. The quality of the added recordings varies. We think the 2-piano recording is a demo recording for ogg; some of the others are of marginal quality. However there are

How do I debug why Centos is asking for fonts to be installed?
Quite a few times a day, both the latest Pan & Firefox available in standard CentOS repositories elicit what (now) appears to be a CentOS request to install fonts, e.g.: http://i39.tinypic.com/2i7qm2p.png This latest message says: Pan newsreader wants to install fonts - Thai - Cherokee At first I had thought it was Pan and Firefox causing these messages, but I was just told it's

Sweave / Latex per-chapter output
Hello to all who have helped me on this topic, first I need to apologize for apparently replying only now... In fact I use the "Pan" Newsreader to read the list, and I posted a reply to the thread a week after your suggestions through Pan, and I only now realised that the posting never arrived on the list although Pan gave me no error message at all! So, let me try again using the good
