CentOS 6: Making KDE Default
I learned from Anne that if I boot to level 5, after I enter the username, can select Gnome or KDE. I note that the default is always Gnome. How can I make the default KDE? How can I get KDE with startx after booting to level 3? Thanks, Mike.

Centos 6: howto install and run KDE
On my laptop, I have not been able to get KDE to run; I always get gnome. I installed selecting KDE, and I tried yum groupinstall, which appeared to work, but I still get gnome running. BTW, I boot to level 3, and run startx. Thanks for your suggestions. Mike.

Unable to rename Macromedia icons using kde menu editor
I'm unable to edit the file names for about three Macromedia programs using the kde menu editor. When using the editor it says the program titles have been renamed but once I leave the editor the name is unedited again. I also can't change the icons for these programs.

railish icons?
This is a little off topic but someone here knows, I''m sure... Does anyone have a good site to find freely available standard icons for things like add/edit/delete/save? I''m looking for a set of clean and simple matching icons that capture that Railsy-Web 2.0 feel... Maybe icons aren''t Railsy... Steven -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

No text or buttons/icons
Good morning. I have been having problems with WINE and not being able to see the text or buttons/icons at the top of the app, or when I open any of the tabs. I have the latest version of WINE and am still having the same problems. If I click on the individual tabs all I get is a quick view (faster then a blink of an eye) of the text, so I can not even configure WINE if I wanted to. Please help

CentOS 6, KDE 4: bad DNS traffic
On my new CentOS 6, KDE 4, running WireShark I see what appears to be frequent nonsensical DNS queries, for example: "settings-personal.desktop" and "settings-system.desktop". The DNS response is always:"No such name". Do tell! These appear especially when I click on things on the KDE menus. On my old CentOS 5 box, on the same LAN, I see no such thing. I note

Persistent desktop icons ?
Hi, Is it possible to configure persistent desktop icons, e. g. shortcuts that users can't delete ? On most of my client desktops, I have some home-made shortcuts, like here for example : http://www.microlinux.fr/configurations.html The shortcut on the lower left corner of the screen launches the public library management system. Most of the users are quite computer-illiterate, and more

Red Hat is Planning To Deprecate KDE on RHEL By 2024
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/02/rhel_deprecates_kde/ That's still several years in the future, of course. I use Mate on all of my machines rather than Gnome or KDE and I'm sure many of you fine folks do the same. But it's interesting nonetheless. -- MELVILLE THEATRE ~ Real D 3D Digital Cinema ~ www.melvilletheatre.com

How to use in KDE
Hello, I'm new to KDE 3 and Wine. Now, what I like is that now wine creates desktop icons on demand. I have tried simply adding the --managed -dll command in the execute

# chkconfig: kill at run level 3
In the control script of my daemon in /etc/init.d?, I have # chkconfig: 35 97 3 The result of this is that I have links: /etc/rc.d/rc1.d/K03... /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S97... /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S97... As mentioned in a previous thread, my complex daemon throws an exception when I shutdown. Perhaps things might be better if I had: /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/K03... Might this be a good idea? If so,
