Centos 4 / Postfix / SMTP
I've just installed Centos 4 on an Acer G310 server - everything's gone well except I'm not able to SMTP connect to my upstream mail server (I've installed postfix + MailScanner) - I managed to find sort out the dovecot side of things but SMTP remains quite silent - the maillog shows an attempted connect but then a timeout: May 9 13:08:45 woking postfix/smtp[7895]:

Installing Postfix/Dovecot
I have just installed CentOS 5.1 on my home server and I am trying to set a mail server. I have diligently followed the instructions on the Wiki - How To on the CentOS website (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix). However I cannot send internal email (I haven't yet tried externally). Do you have any suggestions on what to check? To test it I used two normail user: giulio and federica.

ClamAV help needed
ClamAV is installed on my CentOS box. I edited the conf file and assumed all is well. Clearly it isn't. Every day I see in logwatch that my signatures are updated, and the database notified, but if I try to scan a file manually it tells me that my signatures are 55 days old. I tried looking at a how-to, in the hope of identifying the problem, but it is hopelessly out of date, and I

DID not working? + sendmail problems
I have a box running *@Home 1.0 and I noticed today when I went to change some settings to do with the DID's that it is no longer detecting the different lines. I have a Digium 4 port line card and Im pretty sure that the DID's used to work when I used fxs_ks signaling on them. However I changed to fxs_ls signaling because the ks wasn't detecting when people were hanging up properly.

Fedora and CentOS no longer on speaking terms
I have just upgraded my server from CentOS 5 to CentOS 6 and am having connectivity problems. My laptop runs Fedora 14, and I have been in the habit of mounting data partitions on my server by fstab entries. Since the update I've not been able to do that. On watching the messages during a reboot I saw a statement that the connection was denied by the server (where are those messages

nfs4 help needed
Fedora 13 is using nfs4, and there is a problem in opening files requiring OpenOffice if accessed over an nfs3 mount, so it's time to change. I found a couple of tutorials, and got it *almost* working correctly. This is where I need help. Logwatch tells me /nfs4exports/Data1 and /Data1 have same filehandle for *,192.168.0.0/24,192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0, using first The tutorial I was

Winbind, cached logons and 'user persistency'...
I've noted that some weeks ago, but i was upgrading all my PVE cluster so i've considered it benevolent. nmbd dead but pid file exists
On a CentOS 5.1 server samba works perfectly as long as connections exist. If no connections exist nmbd shuts down: service smb status smbd (pid 2970 2934) is running... nmbd dead but pid file exists On this last occasion it had been less than 5 minutes between connections. What could be causing this? Anne -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name:

?barracuda? listing in logwatch session 123 of user root.
My nightly logwatch report had a never before seen section last night, "barracuda spam firewall". I have not problem with the emails it noted as being rejected. But I've always thought of "barracuda" as a commercial product. I have neither configured nor enabled any barracuda software and "yum list '*barrac*'" comes up empty. What is this? Jon -- Jon

Security help desperately needed
I need to have the following services from my server: imap - mostly by lan, but occasionally external file and print serve samba access - read and write to some directories The problems I'm seeing are inconsistent, making it difficult to know how to find the source. Samba access is essential to me. I use a server-based korganizer, and without samba it's inaccessible. Sometimes it is

If many domains, and the same mailhost, only then block the mailhost. I've been thinking about

logwatch customization question

Do I copy /usr/share/logwatch/default.conf/services/dovecot.conf to /etc/logwatch/conf/services and edit it there, or do I have to copy ALL default.conf/services/* there and modify

I ran logwatch at the command line: logwatch --detail medium

logwatch
Hi All, I need to be able to make sense from my shorewall logs. I have installed logwatch and it is mailing me reports but the level of detail is just not there. I have set the detail variable to High=10 but I get entries only from the DNS service about denied updates. What am I getting wrong? Tom, will you be kind enough to send me your logwatch config files? Thanks in advance. Ama
