"sector read error" with 3.20-pre8 syslinux.com
Hi All, A colleague of mine is using syslinux-3.20-pre8, syslinux.com, under DOS to install syslinux loader. It gives "sector read error". He re-compiled syslinux.com under a linux box, and used it successfully to install the loader from DOS. He is installing it on a hard drive (C:) He booted from a floppy and ran: "syslinux.com C:" at A:\ prompt He tried with

Add U32 Filter with libnl
Hello, I try to add a U32 source port filter with libnl. My filter can be succesfully added with the library (no error occured) but the filter is not active. If I run "tc filter show dev eth0" I get: filter parent 1: protocol ip pref 100 u32 filter parent 1: protocol ip pref 100 u32 fh 800: ht divisor 1 filter parent 1: protocol ip pref 100 u32 fh 800::800 order 2048 key ht 800 bkt 0

Syslinux-5.00-pre8
Another prerelease for the 5.00 (elflink) branch should be making its way to the mirrors now. The shortlog for -pre7 to -pre8 is listed below. Just like the 4.06 branch I was really hoping to drop a final release this week. Once 4.06 is out I'll merge that into 5.00. If you can, please test it out and let know any of any bugs you find. Because so much of the core infrastructure is rewritten

malloc in libcom32 broken?
I get a link error when trying to call malloc from libcom32. I tried to simplify the case by adding the malloc to the sample hello.c in the modules directory, but I still get the following error: ld -m elf_i386 -T ../lib/com32.ld -o hello.elf hello.o ../libutil/libutil_com.a ../lib/libcom32.a /usr/lib64/gcc-lib/x86_64-suse-linux/3.3.3/32/libgcc.a ../lib/libcom32.a(malloc.o)(.text+0x13): In

Just a heads up while testing newer versions to work around a hardware problem it seems the config file parser is fubar. SYSLINUX 3.32-pre7 release candidate
I'm going to promote SYSLINUX 3.32-pre7 to release candidate unless someone objects, with the intent of releasing 3.32 immediately after Christmas. Please let me know if there are problems that should make me *not* do so, even if you have previously reported them. -hpa

SYSLINUX 3.62-pre7: no more 64K limit on CLI labels
3.62 is shaping up to be the "let's get rid of hardcoded limits" release. I got inspired by Bryan Perry's post about people still wanting to be able to use the CLI, so I have implemented putting labels in high memory, therefore avoiding the 64K total limit. This is now released as 3.62-pre7. If you happen to have a use case for this, I would be interested in finding out

SYSLINUX 3.11-pre8 -- release candidate
I have released SYSLINUX 3.11-pre8; this is a release candidate. The differences versus -pre6 is that I have reverted the PXELINUX stack changes I did in SYSLINUX 3.10 since there are confirmed reports that they break at least one platform. As before, I hope to release 3.11 on Tuesday unless I get objections. ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ -hpa

SYSLINUX 3.70-pre8
I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.70-pre8. The two main differences is that I have updated the gPXE source base, and added a sanboot module (sanboot.c32). sanboot.c32 *should* be capable of initiating an iSCSI or AoE boot, but I haven't actually tested it. The other main difference is that gPXE now advertises HTTP/1.0 instead of HTTP/1.1, since the code was not actually HTTP/1.1

Last call for Syslinux 3.81
I have just pushed out Syslinux 3.81-pre7; the only delta over -pre6 is a small change to meminfo.c32. I expect to make a 3.81 release probably early next week, so this is a last call notice. If you have any outstanding issues, or you have tests you want to do and want some more time (Dag - I know you said you were going to try to do some tests over the weekend), please speak up *now*. -hpa

SYSLINUX 2.00-pre8 released
Hi all, I have released SYSLINUX 2.00-pre8, which a syslinux installer which I'm *hoping* should be safe to run setuid root (and therefore will be able to run on any device or file that the user has read/write permission to.) If anyone is willing to do a security audit of this code, I would really appreciate it; I have really tried to make sure the code asserts root privilege as little as at

SYSLINUX 2.20-pre8 available
Rewrite still going strong... The big news in -pre8 is that I have turned on the code which stores "label" statements in compressed format. I tested it with a particularly trivial example, and it handled over 2400 labels that way. In a more typical configuration it would probably handle 600-800. -hpa
