Boot GSP node with KVM and VirtIO
I'm trying to boot a virtual GSP node with Linux KVM and VirtIO. While
the install itself detects both the VirtIO harddisk (/dev/vdx) and
VirtIO ethernet nic and completes successfully, I'm not able to boot
the virtual machine from it. After POST I can only see the GSP boot
message and the countdown timer, but when the timer reach 0 it stalls.
When I reassign the _same_ disk as IDE or SCSI

RJS page.delay timing issues
Hi.
Has anyone ran into issues with the timing of page.delay. I have been
testing in firefox, for the most part, and it seems that there is no
reliability on when the page.delay timings kick in.
What happens is that sometimes it will work fine, and the countdown
looks great; other times it will just jump to the end and display
everything at once, other times it will be jerky. I''m on a

USB Keyboard
Hello,
My desktop machine at work was replaced and they gave me a Dell
Optiplex GX520 machine to use. When booting from CD-ROM I use
isolinux 3.50 and the keyboard does not work. It does work once linux
boots, and it works if I hit the F2 to go into bios before isolinux
starts. I have searched google and the syslinux archives for
'Optiplex GX520' but have not found any reports of

Days to solstice calculation
Hello,
I've come across a problem in developing a set of custom functions to calculate the number of hours of daylight at a given latitude, and the number of days a date precedes or secedes the summer solstice. I discovered an inconsistency concerning leap years between my derived values and those from the US naval databases. It seems as far as I can figure that my inconsistency arises either

CentOS 6.5 VirtualBox
Hi
Is anyone here using VirtualBox? I've had it working rather well for
some time, but after some recent upgrade or the other it's started
exiting with a Segmentation fault just after startup, before windows are
opened or anything. I've tried a few different versions, all with the
same result. I'm using binary packages
http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/rpm/el.

CentOS 7 in VirtualBox
I installed CentOS 7 in VirtualBox in OS X Yosemite, but the NIC is not getting an IP address. So I thought it was a problem with the thunderbolt adapter. ?I then installed CentOS 7 in VirtualBox on a box with CentOS 6.5. ?The network doesn't work in the VM either. ?Anyone tried CentOS 7 in VirtualBox (latest version) and have the network working?
Thanks,

Has anyone gotten virtualbox to run on Centos8? I did the install, and
it complained about missing elflibs, so I installed those, and the
virtualbox install finished without any reported problems.
when i try to run virtualbox, it fails with this message:

could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this

Samba in VirtualBox
Hello there,
currently I have Windows on my machine because I need it for school. And
because of my small hard disc (only 80 GB) I cannot install Linux.
I have a magazine about Linux with an introduction to Samba. That's why
I wanted to try out Samba.
I downloaded VirtualBox and installed Archlinux. Samba is installed and
I created a shared folder on Windows and on my Archlinux, but I

virsh + remote VirtualBox
Hello,
I have the following setup:
1. MacOS host with VirtualBox installed
2. Ubuntu 16.04 host with libvirt installed
What I try to do:
Manage VMs executed inside VirtualBox on host 1 with libvirt tools from
host 2.
I have vboxwebsrv up and running on my MacOS host.
I can successfully manage VMs remotely (e.g. with phpvirtualbox).
But libvirt (virsh in particular) doesn't work.

Running COS 7.1708 on VirtualBox 5.1.28
Anyone else having issues getting the VB drivers to load on 1708?
I keep gettting an "Error: unable to find the sources of your current Linux kernel..." message.
I do have kernel-devel installed and I had no issues running 1611 on the same host.
Thanks

[PATCH] virt-v2v: Support for Converting VirtualBox Guests
Hi,
attached is an updated [1] patch for virt-v2v to support converting
VirtualBox guests with VirtualBox Guest Additions [2] installed. With
the patch applied a VirtualBox RHEL 6 guest with Guest Additions can be
converted with the steps documented in the manual page.
I've tested this patch on a RHEL 6.2 host running VirtualBox 4.1.8 using
a RHEL 6.2 guest, the guest works as expected

xVM and VirtualBox
Hi
unfortunately VirtualBox does not work yet in a Solaris Dom0:
I installed VirtualBox beta and it runs fine on bare metal.
Unfortunately the necessary driver does not load automatically in a xVM
Dom0. It can be loaded manually but it looks like it does not work in a
Dom0:
bash-3.2# modinfo | grep vbox
# this is a one time task:
bash-3.2# cp /platform/i86pc/kernel/drv/amd64/vboxdrv

OpenSolaris+ZFS+RAIDZ+VirtualBox - ready for production systems?
Hi all,
I have been looking at various alternatives for a system that runs several Linux & Windows guests. So far my favorite choice would be OpenSolaris+ZFS+RAIDZ+VirtualBox. Is this combo ready to be a host for Linux & Windows guests? Or is it not 100% stable (yet)?
Greetings,
Evert
