Oracle Install
We have CentOS Forums here: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/ Akemi Yagi (toracat on IRC) and Fabian Arrotin (arrfab on IRC) are the Forum Moderators. There are a lot of posts there that I find helpful when doing web searches ... but we could use more people answering questions there. luks and aes-ni
Hi, Short version: If I had a CPU with the aes-ni [1] feature would luks use it? I know that Upstream Vendors Security Guide [2] says: ...snip The default cipher used for LUKS (refer to cryptsetup --help) is aes-cbc-essiv:sha256 (ESSIV - Encrypted Salt-Sector Initialization Vector). Note that the installation program, Anaconda, uses by default XTS mode (aes-xts-plain64) snap... I also found a

short vpnc article
Akemi-san has suggested that I turn the following post into a wiki article. (The article would be a bit better organized, since if one bothers to follow the thread, you'll see that I found that one can use the pcf2vpnc in Dag's rpm without worrying about having a plain text password.) http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=18444&forum=38&post_id=67625 If

Is every CentOS release supported for 7 years?
Hi, I've read some posts in the forums which seems to indicate that not every CentOS version is well supported. Is it possible to install CentOS 5.5 on a server and only apply security updates for 7 years? Or is the preferred way to upgrade to each minor version? Thanks in advance! Relevant forum quotes: Probably not relevant to the problem; however, the current release is 5.4 - 5.3 is

So I was hoping Firewire would be faster, which is why we got the version with all 3 interfaces to experiment with first. Following the
