yum remove <old kernel pkgs> -- wants to remove a ton of stuff
I've got a Centos 4 box at work, where I noticed a pile of old kernels lying around and no longer needed. I did "rpm -qa | grep -y kernel > list" then edited the list to remove from it the newer kernels, then "yum remove `cat list`". Yum has come up with a list of 71 packages it wants to remove, even though there were only 33 kernel-related RPMs in the list. this

Bugzilla not working following RHEL to CentOS migration
Dear listmates, I've recently moved a server from RHEL5 to CentOS 5.3 after it was decided not to renew the subscripton. Everything works beautifully except for Bugzilla, which throws MySQL errors. For example, the sanitycheck.cgi page says: # # # Bugzilla ? Sanity Check * Home * | New * | Search * | * | Reports * * | My Votes * | Preferences

OT -- Inexpensive CentOS dedicated servers?
Hey all, I am looking to get some input regarding inexpensive dedicated servers -- preferably with a hosting company the offers CentOS as an OS option. Does anybody have any input or recommendations? I'd really like to support a company that uses CentOS. And there are _so many options out there, is kind of overwhelming. Thanks, Ryan

Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all. I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed. Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now? Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry it's a little bit long: [root at karsites ~]# yum --enablerepo '*' --disablerepo

Installing HomeBank on CentOS 7.1
Just a suggestion: Have you tried Gnucash? It is in the EPEL repository, works fine in Centos 7, and is really well done. P.S. - I can not comment on HomeBank, as I haven't used it. I broke "yum update" - C7

It has been a month or so at least since the last successful update. It did complain about the REMI repos, which is odd as this all started when my yum update only updated PHP

Asterisk Interface to propriotary system and GPL
Hi All, I am wondering if I will be breaking the GPL, if I write for example, a channel driver or make some modifications to the astrisk source code, to interface at RUN TIME, through sockets, with a proprietary system. Eg. 1. I write chan_xxx + modify asterisk source (make changes + new code publicly available) 2. chan_xxx supports hardware by XXX Corp. 3, XXX Corps interface is

Multiple copies of a message
I have a problem and I don't know which part of the mail chain could be causing it, although dovecot does seem to be the most logical source. I get multiple copies of messages to my Inbox. I have just deleted 24 copies of a newsletter from Computer Shopper. The worst example I have seen of this had more than 90 copies. This doesn't happen to any subfolder of Inbox, just Inbox

Support for Kmail maildir format
Has anyone looked into providing support in dovecot for Kmail folders? I would like to make my Kmail folders (on my main desktop system) available to my other systems (including over a VPN when I am travelling). Kmail is my main mail program and I have a lot of mail in a lot of folders, so I don't want to set up a separate IMAP service and move all the mail and folders. Kmail's use

Dovecot headers at start of text returned to KMail
The attachment show Kmail (kdepim-4.4.2-1.fc12.x86_64) accessing an email from dovecot over imap. From the wireshark-imap-trace.txt you can see at line 77 that the headers do not end cleanly "X-)". And at line 84 there is text from the headers that is not part of the body "-Spambayes-Trained: ham". The email being access by dovecot is in:

installing kde using up2date
Hi, I have already installed 4.2 on my laptop, I only chose GNOME at install time. I now need to use up2date to install kde (I wish to install twinkle softphone). What is the correct way to do that. I did: up2date kde* up2date -u kde* up2date -i kde* It printed a listing of the packages but did not install them. Thanks, Jerry
