OpenOffice.org 3.1 installation was corrupted-installed again, nothing in Applications/Office menu
I had a corrupted installation of OpenOffice.org 3.1. When I used "yum remove openoffice.org-core" the response was "package openoffice.org-core available but not installed", but then, when I used "yum install openoffice.org-core there was a long list of Transaction Check Errors. I then removed openoffice.org3.1-redhat-menus-noarch which was in the errors. Here's the

OpenOffice 3.3.0 crashing on CentOS 5.5
The last few releases of OpenOffice have gotten very unstable on my desktop which is a CentOS 5.5 i386 system. After multiple crashes when doing embedded simple drawings in OpenOffice writer (circles and lines with connections), I started using the versions from Sun then Oracle. I am now using version 3.3: openooffice.org3-3.3.0-9567. I've lived with this but with version 3.x it has gotten

Does anyone have an idea about if upstream will be moving to Apache openoffice or libreoffice - or just stay at the current openoffice and "patch" security items? Jerry

OpenOffice Calc ODBC equivalent
Hi R users: I am using RODBC to create some new ".xls" files each with several sheets (about 100) with sqlSave() from a data.frame inside R without any problem, but on windows XP platform. I would like to know if it is posible to make a similar solution on linux with openoffice? RODBC work only (for the moment) with ".xls" on windows, via the ODBC driver. Is it posible to

Problems with file locking over gnome-vfs (esp. OpenOffice.org)
Hi. First of all, I will probably post this question several places, at least here, on the ubuntu forums, and perhaps OpenOffice forums. It is a problem that I'm not sure if really is samba related, Openoffice related or perhaps even OS related. As stated in the heading, it's about file locking, so many apps come into play. I work at a school where we teachers use mainly Ubuntu Hardy and

(OT) OpenOffice.org calc chart strangeness.
I am attempting to create a simple line chart graphing three columns from a soffice-calc spreadsheet. I expect it to take the leftmost column as the X-Axis, plotting the others on the Y-Axis, but it always creates an X-Axis of the row number in the columns, and the first column amongst the data. I have tried this on OpenOffice.org 3.2.0, NeoOffice(R) 3.0.2 Patch 2, iWork Pages, and Excel 12.2.4

Centos 5 OpenOffice 2.0.4-5.4.17.2
Content-type: Multipart/Alternative; boundary="Alt-Boundary-19583.13106888" --Alt-Boundary-19583.13106888 I noticed that there are no openoffice.org-xxx-2.0.4-5.4.17.2 rpms in Centos 5 update. So I tried to build openoffice 2.0.4-5.4.17.2 (sans language packs) on a x86_64 from RH 5 source rpm. The build bombed after an hour elapsed and it used up about 10 GB of space with an error

Reading microsoft .xls format and openoffice OpenDocument files
1. I have used gdata::read.xls() with much happiness. But every now and then it breaks. I have not, as yet, been able to construct a mental model about the class of .xls files for which it works. Does someone have a simple rule for predicting the circumstances under which it will work? 2. Just like there is a read.xls(), it'd be great if we have a read.ods() which directly

Reading OpenOffice Calc spreadsheet into R
I am in awe of the project you developed but wish to do something simpler. I have recently decided to give up on Microsoft Office and wish to use OpenOffice exclusively. In the past I have used the RODBC package to read data from excel files. Do you know how to read data directly from OpenOffice calc files into R? Farrel Buchinsky

CentOS 4 and OpenOffice
Has anyone here replaced the openoffice.org packages with those that were distributed with FC3? It's either that for me or simply scrapping CentOS in favor of FC3 (or even FC1). I'm very surprised that I can find no reports regarding the impossibility of formatting multi-page spreadsheets to print properly.

Problem when opening files after installing OpenOffice 3.1 on CentOS 5.4
Hi, I have installed OpenOffice 3.1 downloaded from the openoffice.org website on CentOS 5.4 x86_64. The downloaded file is actually an archive containing RPMs. I did not use their setup tool but installed directly the RPMs I was interested in via 'yum localinstall' (my idea is in the future to put them on a custom yum repository, so that they can be managed via regular yum install /
