how to move forward/undo/revert/fix re: a failed CentOS 5.5 to SL 5.5 migration ...
For various reasons which seemingly fail the necessary/sufficient
tests with the benefit of hindsight, I attempted to migrate a shell
machine which is the beach front from which I work (not a production
server) from CentOS 5.5 to Scientific Linux 5.5 yesterday.
Karanbir is quoted on this list as having said something like:

cd xen-4.0-testing.hg

make install-xen
make install-tools

new kernel = no working sound
After updating my laptop ( compaq 6820s) to Centos 5.6 the sound is gone.
The sound card is still detected but there is no sound from speaker
Vendor: Intel Corporation
Model: 82810H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller

how to optimize CentOS XEN dom0?
Hi,
I have a problematic CentOS XEN server and hope someone could point me
in the right direction to optimize it a bit.
The server runs on a Core2Quad 9300, with 8GB RAM (max motherboard can
take, 1U chassis) on an Intel motherboard with a 1TB SATA HDD.
dom0 is set to 512MB limit with a few small XEM VM's running:

Time lagging on DomU
Hi,
on one of our systems I see that while the time on the Centos 5.4 Host is
correct it lags behind on two of the 5.5 guests by almost 5 minutes but is
correct for the third domU. From what I understand the clock of the system
is controlled by the host and and guest cannot write to it (and because of
that not change it). Does anyone now what the cause could be and how I can
fix the time for

No kernel-debuginfo for actual kernel?
After a crash I tried
wget
http://debuginfo.centos.org/5/x86_64/kernel-debuginfo-2.6.18-194.32.1.el5.x86_64.rpm
as usual.
But for 32.1 there is no kernel-debuginfo.
Is there any reason for that?
Thank you in advance!

I am trying to trace an mdadm re-sync pid and I keep getting the above

fast processing and buffering
I have a C++ program that opens, gets a little data from, and closes
about 5000 files. Now if I run the program when I first boot up,
the running time is from about 10 seconds to a minute. Subsequently,
the program runs in well inter one second. Buffering -- right?
So I changed a parameter, so the program gets a different (albeit
similar) 5000 files from a different directory. Running time on

ACPI: Unable to find RSDP problem with centos 5.5 but not 5.3
Two more observations: (adding to my previous below email)
1) Centos 5.6 also showing the same ACPI errors as in CentOS 5.5
2)BIOS-E820 map has a difference in the first line: (0000000000010000
instead of 0000000000000000)

- Centos-5.3 BIOS-E820 memory map is:
