OT: Linksys router misbehaviour
I'm running a Linksys WRT54GL router from my CentOS-7 home server.
Every now and then (maybe once every 2 days) the router's WiFi cuts out,
and I've found no way to solve this except to disconnect the power
from the router, wait 10 seconds and then re-connect.
This always works.
The router is running under dd-wrt.
My question is - which makes it a tiny bit CentOS-related -
does anyone

Testers needed for VoIP router solution
Hi all,
We have put together a firmware for a range of inexpensive routers.
It has been configured to provide optimum VoIP performance.
We have internally tested it for number of months and it looks very good.
You should be able to run it easily with 20+ phones on local network ( we
still did not hit the upper limit ) assuming that you have bandwidth.
Your VoIP will get prioritized over other

Samsung CLP-325W network connection?
Anyone got this working over a LAN under CentOS?
The instructions claim it is easy to connect
after pressing the WPS button on printer and router.
Sadly, I don't see a WPS button on my Linksys WRT54GL router.
When I press the WPS button on the printer
the WiFi icon flashes,
but I don't see any attempt to connect in /var/log/messages
on my CentOS-5.5 server.
Any advice or suggestions

Problem with WRT54GL router
I have a curious problem with an old WRT54GL router,
which I use as a WiFi access point on my LAN:
Internet->ADSL modem->CentOS-7 computer->WRT54GL router
The router has always had a slight problem
of losing connection every so often -
it used to be every couple of days,
but recently it has become much more often.
My cure was always to disconnect the power from the router

Problem with AT&T VPN
I'm running a CentOS-5.6 server,
which in general runs perfectly.
My setting is possibly a little unusual:
ADSL -> Billion 5200S RC modem/router -> CentOS-5.6 HP MicroServer
-> Linksys WRT54GL router .
My daughter is just visiting me,
and she has to contact her job using AT&T VPN
on her laptop under Windows XP.
Unfortunately this does not work on my system

Attaching LinkSys WRT54GL to CentOS machine
I have a LinkSys WRT54GL router,
which I would like to attach to my CentOS-5.6 server,
to set up a LAN 192.168.2.* .
The server is attached to the internet
through a Billion modem/router which has a single ethernet outlet.
The instructions for the LinkSys router
assume that it is being attached directly to an ADSL modem.
But for various reasons I want everything to go through my server.
I wonder

Distro ready out of the box
hi all,
I''m writing not for technical problems but for a simple question.
Do You know if there is a distro which is ready for traffic shaping etc.
''out of the box''?
I mean a distro which does not require patching the kernel and/or
iptables and/or installing from source etc. and gives the user most of
the tools needed (imq, ipp2p, l7filter and so on).
many thanks

PCI ethernet card for CentOS
I need to get a second ethernet card for my HP Proliant CentOS server,
to attach a LinkSys WRT54GL router to.
I see that there are many Realtek RTL8169S gigabit cards
going for a song on eBay.
Is anyone using one of these under CentOS?
Do they work OK?
(I used to have a couple of Realtek cards - not gigabit -
and they worked fine.)
Or does anyone have a strong recommendation for other cards?

"Real" API for Perl?
Hi, all. I've used the perl/AGI interface, and... well, I found it kind
of hokey. Granted, this was in 1.2 days -- perhaps things have changed.
Regardless, I guess I have two questions:
1) Has the Perl/AGI "binding" improved since then?
2) Is there any chance of a "real" API for Perl?
Thanks much!

Embedded Asterisk
I caught a thread the other day concerning Astricon and users embedding
Asterisk on a Linksys or Netgear broadband router. I lost track of the
email thread, if anyone is presently working with this scenario please shoot
me an email.
Thanks

Sveasoft Alchemy QOS
I just bought two new Linksys WRT54G routers. Sveasoft has loaded Linux on
this router and included a bunch of Linux tools, one of which is Bandwidth
Management. The QoS aspect of this is supposed to be much more granular
than the previous solution (Wonder Shaper).
I have not been able to find any suggestions for how to impliment QoS
(Bandwidth Management) using the web interface of Alchemy.

small qos switch
I have multiple locations running * where all the phone are
on their own lan and all the data is on a separate lan.
The problem is they are sharing the same dsl connection.
The locations are IAX2 trunked together, but it only takes
one data down/up load to just kill the voice.
What I am looking for is a small switch with QoS that I
can stick in ahead of the dsl modem. Plug in one connection

wifi
I'd like to survey those on-list who actually use wifi SIP handsets.
What type of wifi access point do you use? Are you happy with it?
I presently use some older Linksys WAP54G APs. I'd like to replace
these but in doing so I'd like to be moving in a VOIP friendly
direction. I've yet to find a handset that I'd buy in quantity, but my
last round of access points lasted >4

2 questions on CentOS firewall
I'm running CentOS-6 on an HP MicroServer
with a Billion 5200S modem/router connecting to the internet.
I'm running the standard CentOS-6 firewall on the server.
(1) I can open port 22 on the Billion, allowing me to ssh in from outside.
But for some reason I cannot ping the same address from outside.
(I can ping it internally.)
Why is this?
I'm not sure if the problem lies with the
