Bug#603727: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64: i386 Dom0 crashes after doing some I/O on local storage (software Raid1 on SAS-drives with mpt2sas driver)
I have the exact same issue on several Sunfire v20z (hardware LSI RAID
controler). Under high IO load, the raid controler starts complaining
with disk errors :

Xen and ReiserFS
I am unable to boot Dom0 on a machine with Reiser file systems. Reiser
support is built into the xen0 kernel. I have similar setup with ext3
file systems working just fine, so I don''t think it is a setup problem.
I have tried booting with and without and initrd file, booting with the
original Linux distro initrd file, etc, but nothing seems to work. I
recall seeing a thread about ReiserFS

System goes into read only mode - not the same as posted earlier
Hello all,
I?m at my wits end trying to resolve this. We are running centos 4.5 on
Intel hardware. Dual SCSI disk drives mirrored on an LSI Logic controller.
Every once in a while and not always on the same server and not only on the
local SCSI Drives.
System A ? Dual internal drives on /dev/sda
System B ? Dual internal drives on /dev/sdc with a DAS on /dev/sda.
Each of these

Upgrade fm 4.7 to 5.3: mptscsi module?
First issue: I did an upgrade from 4.7 to 5.3 on an HP DL380G3 box.
I got yum working again and upgraded 160+ packages. During that

Unable to boot xen dom0 on IBM System x3250
I have an IBM System x 3250 that successfully boots using the standard
kernel (2.6.18-8.1.10.el5) but fails to boot with the xen kernel. The kernel
appears to fail when it attempts to initialize the driver for the onboard
SAS controller (LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1064E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT
SAS). Can anyone provide any advice? Here's the relevant info. Please let me

Problems with LTO-3 and U320 on Centos 4.4
I am currently testing an Overland Tape storage unit with a LTO-3 drive
on CentOS 4.4. After a random amount of time but usually when we have
backed up about 0.5-1TB we get scsi errors which cause the backup to
fail. I have rebuilt the box with Solaris 10 x86 and Windoze to prove
the hardware and have successfully backed up over 3TB on each OS without
error.
Can anyone offer advice on how to find

Most of the time it panics without any warning, but once there was:

Dom0 lvm/software raid rhel4.1 booting issues.
Basically the issue comes down to my Volume Groups not being found by
this initrd, causing good ole kernel panic.

[fdo] Updated syncmail script for new CVS loginfo syntax
Hi,
If you are getting tired of being teased about updating your
syncmail script to the new CVS loginfo syntax, this mail is for
you.
If you have opted to use the CIA script, you have already
switched to the new loginfo format. If not, you need to do now.
For that you need to add
UseNewInfoFmtStrings=yes
to the CVS config file. Then if you have script using the old
format you can escape it

CentOS won't shutdown ... or do anything else
I started to have problems similar to ones described in the past on
this list but could not find any kind of resolution. I did an
lsmod, a mount command, and for fun, did an strace on shutdown to
see where it is hanging, and an ltrace as well.
Any thoughts?

Can I install CentOS 4.2 on Sun X4100?
Hi, all!
I want to change current RHEL 4.0 ES into CentOS 4.2 on Sun X4100 server.
The server has SAS SCSI based two 2.5" hard disks.
I could only install RHEL 4.0 Update 1 because the server is equipped with
RHEL 4.0 Update 1's device driver only.
I've included below the boot process messages concerned with SCSI controller.
If it's possible for me to install CentOS 4.0 on my

mptsas driver failing in Xen-3.4 unstable version
On Xen-3.4 (unstable version), I have created CentOS PV guest and dedicated 1068 SAS controller but I am not able to see the disk which is connected to 1068 SAS controller when I do fdisk -l (vtd support is enabled in Xen).
Looks like the pci device(SAS controller) is getting dedicated successfully as I can see the device in the list of pci devices shown by lspci.

Can i manage part of a file ..
Can I use puppet to ensure that a file includes certain text but not be
required to maintain the entire file?
For example,
I would like /etc/modprobe.conf to contain the following lines but the
file will also contain lines that are system dependent.
