open-vm-tools 20100425 rpm
All, I've updated the open-vm-tools packages that have been floating around to the latest release - 4/25/2010 - for those that are interested. There is quite a bit of new additions/changes over the past year such as the addition of a fuse driver for vmblock devices, vmxnet3, pvscsi, etc. SRPMS and .spec's available here: http://www.davehollis.com/packages/open-vm-tools-kmod.spec

Can i manage part of a file ..
Can I use puppet to ensure that a file includes certain text but not be required to maintain the entire file? For example, I would like /etc/modprobe.conf to contain the following lines but the file will also contain lines that are system dependent. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Disable IPV6 alias net-pf-10 off alias ipv6 off

Shared folders with Centos-7 guest in VMware-10 using open-vm-tools
Hi! Just wondering if anyone has this working ... Centos-7 guest in VMware-10 host (on Windows-7 :-( ) Out of the box, shared folders and drag&drop do not work although X screen resolution sensing is fine (ie xrandr reports the resolution of the host screen as well as the peculiar screen options built-in) and I can Alt-Enter to full screen quite happily. I tried Fedora-22 too but did

dovecot 2.1.8 still tries to touch any mountpoint
why does dovecot touch any ever used fuse-mountpoint and scream at the next start that is no longer mounted? "If this is intentional, remove it with doveadm mount" why if i never called "doveadm" on any setup at all? virtio for 9.1-R
Hi guys, I can't see virtio in releng/9.1, is there any particular reason why it isn't going to be included given that it works reasonable well (and is optional anyway, so not likely to be detrimental)? Thanks, Joe

A Performance Comparison of Hypervisors
Obviously not a very fair comparison [1]. I can''t see how this was done well at all. VMWare are a bit silly to release stuff like this, just lowers the whole game. Are there any 64bit CentOS5 kernels available that are immune against the exploit mentioned in the subject? Turning off 32bit support is no option to me.. patch: SDI Xpe images support for pxelinux
Hi, I added support in pxelinux for SDI (Wndows XP embedded images) files a few time ago for specific needs. It works well (at least for me atm) and I think I can now submit it to this list. I get a very good improvement in speed over the traditional way of loading SDI images. * Links : The 'diff -urN' patch for syslinux-2.11 (documentation included) :

Network cards not recognised
Hi, We have a HP DL385 G6 server that is having an issue. Two of the 4 network cards are not being recognised by Linux. We have quite a few other servers with the same hardware and no issues but, before I call HP, I would like to make sure that I am not doing anything wrong :) I have tried with the kernel that came with CentOS 5.5 and the updated one kernel-2.6.18-194.11.3. dedicated vnic IP zone not recieving unicast traffic
Hi Folks, I have a snv_105 sxce host that I just can''t get to work as expected with crossbow + zones. My test host persephone, is a virtual machine running under VMware ESXi 3.5, with 2 virtual network cards (e1000), all on the same flat network/subnet. It started life just 2 days ago with a clean install of snv_95, and I LUed to 105 yesterday. To rule out any sharing issue, the first
