Automatically detecting LUNs without a reboot
Hi everybody. I have an HP StorageWorks array connected to one of my servers, connected via an LSI controller (lspci reports: SCSI storage controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1068E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS (rev 08)) on an HP DL385 running CentOS 5.5 x86_64. I have set up multipath and all is working but, when I create a snaphost and export it as a new LUN from the HP web interface, it

RedHat to CentOS packages
Dear all, We're trying to use Nessus to monitor our system and we're having a hard time mapping the package versions from RedHat to CentOS in order to be able to report against CVE (vulnerability reports). After some research, we think that the mapping is as follows (using HTTPD as the example): CentOS httd-2.2.3-43.el5.centos.3 is equivalent to RedHat httpd-2.2.3-43.el5_5.3 So, it

Network cards not recognised
Hi, We have a HP DL385 G6 server that is having an issue. Two of the 4 network cards are not being recognised by Linux. We have quite a few other servers with the same hardware and no issues but, before I call HP, I would like to make sure that I am not doing anything wrong :) I have tried with the kernel that came with CentOS 5.5 and the updated one kernel-2.6.18-194.11.3. I do an lspci

Question about KDC Resolution with Samba
I'm running a debug script from this site (Dated 16 Aug 2019, created and maintained by Rowland Penny and Louis van Belle). The script obtains the Linux server DOMAIN by running "hostname -d" which returns "mycorp.com". Next the script runs nslookup -type=SRV _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com which fails ** server can't find _kerberos._tcp.mycorp.com: NXDOMAIN and the

inconsistent DNS information, windows domain member issues..
I joined a Windows 10 Pro system to my (still experimental) domain. The windows system actually hosts DC2 as a VM, and another Windows (Server 2008 R2) at another location hosts DC1 also as a VM. The two locations are connected via a VPN, both systems run only when needed. The windows system does not directly use DC2 for DNS but instead talks to a DNS resolver that delegates the samba Domain to

samba dlz. bind9 nslookup is wrong
what is weird is that i have not changed it for about 2 years, only apt update, upgrade. no other change, ipv4 and ipv6 address working correctly. now there is this bug, that i have not changed anything and suddenly, DLZ generates an unknown not connected , working, live ip4 and ip6. and all because it tried an nslookup p3x-dc.patrikx3.com that was the correct for over 2 years. the only thing that

Setup a Samba AD DC as an additional DC
Hai, I had a quick look. Barry, can you get this script and run it. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-collect-debug-info.sh Then post the results to the list. It collects all info i need to have a better look. I have a few ideas, this might be a resolving order problem, i've based on the errors below. Can you also post the output of bind from the point its

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Perhaps I am on the wrong track but I would like to share some additional observations... I quickly enabled DNS query logging: # rndc querylog Then run another gpupdate on the client. During the Update I see lots of queries: 04-Aug-2016 14:46:58.414 queries: info: client 10.0.1.186#59270 (_ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.dc._msdcs.ad.cyberdyne.local): view internal: query:

Fwd: Dynamic DNS Updates not working. samba_dnsupdate : (sambalist: message 3 of 20) RuntimeError: (sambalist: to exclusive) kinit for [DC@Realm] failed (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
Thank you Louis for that answer! Actually I did get kinit and samba_dnsupdate working, though I am unsure how. I tried some changes to krb5.conf in the [realms] and [domain_realm] sections, als well as setting dns_lookup_realm = false to true, but reverted it all back to the initial file: [libdefaults] default_realm = INTRANET.MAYWEG.NET dns_lookup_realm = false dns_lookup_kdc = true After a

A new 3.0.6 package is now available on cygwin-1.7; I don't plan to upgrade Cygwin-1.5 packages anymore, so if you want newer releases on rsync please upgrade to 1.7, with proper care: http://cygwin.com/#beta-test This release includes a small patch on rsync configure to detect IPv6 and xattr on Cygwin, please consider including them (or a modification of them) upstream to help people have a

Samba 4.1.6 and 4.1.7 Kerberos problem on Debian Linux
I am trying to setup an AD using a Linux server to get away from Windows Server 2008. So far I have tried the setup on both a Debian 7.4 64 bit machine, and a Raspberry Pi (Debian variant). I've tried both Samba stable versions 4.1.6 and 4.1.7, and they both give me the same results. I followed the instructions to install the Samba 4 AD setup at
