Problems with PAM in Samba 2.2.0?
I have a Samba 2.2.0 PDC set up running Linux and I have a Windows 2000 client computer. The Win2k computer can join the domain, but no one can log in. Everytime I try to logon with the Win2k computer, it says that the account is disabled. I can use the account to browse shares and mount the home directory from the PDC. I have added the account to a group on the Win2k computer. I found the

script/console
The agile book says "You can inspect variables, set values, add other breakpoints, and generally have a good time". This is very sweet and totally useless. For example, I want to see the session variable, the cookies variable and so on. These names are unknown. I think I guess that the things that are available depend on where you put the breakpoint() call. I''ve tried a

cvs010626 flickering borders before main window drawn
This problem is new since _after_ wine010510.tar.gz and keeps showing up in cvs010626. Again the same VB3 application. The splash screen appears and the main window (which consists only of a bunch of buttons) is started to be prepared. In a flickering way many frames or borders appear (empty) and when finally the splash screen disappears the main window gets drawn correctly. Then the problem does

Re: OT: fax obsoleted? Was: Re: Fax via email (Steve Underwood)
Old managers will change its the LaLawyershat don't change. Every dam law office that I been in has at least one fax machine that is constantly printing something out. But to say fax is dead is an understatement. AT&T said that about teletype service, you know 50 - 300 baud service, years ago and then one day they noticed that traffic across their teletype seservicetarted growing. If

Can't Access Samba Running Linux Box From XP
Hi All, I've just installed Samba on a Linux box, and can see the Windows box attempting connections, but, when inputting the username/password, I keep getting the same user/pass prompt window. What should I troubleshoot for this? I gave the user/pass that is the same as the account on the Linux box, which has permissions to view the shared directory in /etc/samba/smb.conf. Cheers. Mark

Para_virtualised Kernel for running XEN-3.2 on Thamesblue Supercomputer
Hi, We are trying to setup XEN testbed on Thamesblue supercomputer which has IBM JS2X blade servers. I know that XEN 3.2 was the last release which supports PowerPC. We want to give it a try now. We are running SLES 10.2 and Gentoo on these blades. Can anyone please tell me which Pv_ops kernel should I use for setting up XEN 3.2 on powerpc? Thanks. Best Regards, Hassan

CVE-2015-3456 / XSA-133 / "Venom" @ Debian Xen
Hello Debian Xen team, I have two questions regarding Xen vulnerability CVE-2015-3456 / XSA-133 / "Venom" in Debian [1]: * I noticed that [1] says 4.4.1-9 not to be vulnerable ("fixed") but according to the Debian Changelog [2] 4.4.1-9 appeared in Debian before XSA-133 was published and xen_4.4.1-9.debian.tar.xz [3] does not seem to contain any XSA-133 patch.

R on a supercomputer
I am using R with Bioconductor to perform analyses on large datasets using bootstrap methods. In an attempt to speed up my work, I have inquired about using our local supercomputer and asked the administrator if he thought R would run faster on our parallel network. I received the following reply: "The second benefit is that the processors have large caches. Briefly, everything is

ANN: Nomic on Rails
"Nomic is a game in which changing the rules is a move. In that respect it differs from almost every other game." In the tradition of PerlNomic, SchemeNomic et al, I''ve made a simple implementation of Nomic on Rails. It works like this: The game is run by a Rails application. A player can propose a change to the "rules" of the game in the form of a patch to the
