centos 5.1 i386 on a 1GIG flash
I have found this link http://owlriver.com/tips/tiny-centos for installing centos on a minimal system. I am looking at putting centos on a 1 GIG flash drive. The above page talks about removing packages after install to attain the small size. however, I am getting blocked at the install page about not enough room to install. All I have selected is the base package. nothing else. Is there a way

gpxelinux feature request
Hi All, A while back there was some mention that gpxe may acquire the ability to receive command-line parameters. I'd dearly love if this could become a reality. It would be fantastic if we could have a pxelinux menu config as follows: KERNEL gpxelinux.0 APPEND config http://someserver.net/gpxe-for-this-box.cfg This would solve a huge number of our problems since we don't have the

10 year old question
Hi All, I used to run webdt.org and this was built to support a tablet computer that hit the market around the late 90?s. DT Research makes them and they get sold to mostly enterprise applications. That being said there are still a few hundred thousand of these in circulation. The hardware is a bit of a hack. Its usb1.1 with a 44 pin flash module on 44 pin pata half height headers. MFGR

Minimal CentOS
Hi! and a warm hello to the CentOS team. I have a work for which I need some solution from you. Actually we have some thin clients where we want to put a light weight Linux distro for users. As of now I have tested with Fedora and Ubuntu distros but the issue I am finding is they are not able to fit in my requirement of flash based hard disk consumption (~500 MB). although a distro named TinyME

sata centos 4.2
I have one SATA drive with windows xp installed. I added a second SATA drive to install CentOS on. During the install, both drives are listed. If I use the auto-partition feature and deselect the drive with windows on it, only selecting the new drive, I get an error message that it could not create the partitions. The same thing happened a few months ago and I manually setup to partitions.

Printer Management
Correct me if I'm wrong. With Samba 2.2.5, there is no way to get a group of users to manage printers so they be able to select/deselect duplex mode, tray, etc. Although I'm able to add a group with the Security tab and give them appropriate permissions, it doe not work from the user side - all the settings are still grayed out. P.S. I use LDAP backend if that matters. -- Yuri

permission/acl troubles
Hi list, Since I've upgraded from samba 3.0.23c to 3.0.25c my ACL's don't work as expected anymore. I'm not sure where the problem is, however. The symptoms are simple: with 3.0.23c, I could grant and revoke user, group and world write access to and from files in a share. With 3.0.25c, I can't do that anymore. When I deselect group or world read access and apply the

different behaviour with ubuntu or with slitaz
Hello, I am a teacher and I use educational softwares that do not require installation. Here's an example: http://artic.ac-besancon.fr/svt/act_ped/svt_clg/troisieme/defenses/defenses-immunitaires-3eme.zip My problem is that most of these software work relatively well under slitaz with wine version 1.2.3 but not on ubuntu10.04 with the same version of wine. I have display problems. With

What is Judy?
I am trying to build Miredo 1.1.5 (http://www.remlab.net/miredo/devel.shtml.en) I have followed the rpmbuild instructions from: http://www.owlriver.com/tips/non-root/, and have the miredo source in ~/build/miredo-1.1.5. I run ./configure (as the INSTALL text file tells me to do) and get the error: checking for Judy.h usablity... no checking for Judy.h presence... no checking for Judy.h...

cleaning up a vector
I calculated a large vector. Unfortunately, I have some measurement error in my data and some of the values in the vector are erroneous. I ended up wih some Infs and NaNs in the vector. I would like to filter out the Inf and NaN values and only keep the values in my vector that range from 1 to 20. Is there a way to filter out Infs and NaNs in R and end up with a clean vector? Mike

CentOS 7 "compose" process
I am looking for documentation on the CentOS 7 "compose" process, specifically, the tools and scripts that generate the LiveOS image contained on the DVDs, as well as whatever produces the final DVD iso image files (mkisofs + isohybrid + ???). I asked on the -devel list, and the suggestion was to use this list instead. As far as I can determine, Fedora does this via pungi, but I am

Matching on multiple columns
Am I correct in believing that one cannot match on multiple columns? One can indeed subset on multiple criteria from different variables (or columns) but not from unique combinations thereof. I need to exclude about 10000 rows from 108000 rows of data based on several unique combinations of identifiers in two columns. Only merge() seems to be able to do that. Merge would allow me to positively

ctdb error after upgrade to 4.12.10
Hi Jeremy, I'm afraid this is indeed caused by the talloc tidyup as one can perfectly reproduce it wih the following patch for smbtorture (call bin/smbtorture ncacn_np:lo local.file.file_lines_parse). I guess we need to set up some warning signs around file_lines_parse() expressing that it takes talloced content and that one should not free the separated lines array separately. Cheers,

How to extract se(coef) from cph?
Hello, I am modeling some survival data wih cph (Design). I have modeled a predictor which showed non linear effect with restricted cubic splines. I would like to retrieve the se(coef) for other, linear, predictors. This is just to make nice LateX tables automatically. I have the coefficients with coef(). How do I do that? Thanks, David Biau.
