DR Server for Windows Machines
I need to setup a CentOS box offsite to have a series of files replicated to it.
My problem is this machine won't have Samba on it but I need to replicate the
hierarchy in question in such a manner that I can restore from it and retain
file system permissions.
That's where I am stumped, anyone got any ideas?
Thanks,

Rsync efficiency on SQL dump files
G'day,
I'm backing up production MySQL database servers. The tables are almost
all MyISAM.
My plan is to use MySQL binary logging and then rsync the binary logs
offsite hourly. The binary log files are only appended to, with new
queries logged at the end of the file. So I'm assuming the rsync
algorithm will be highly effective at reducing the bandwith required to
transfer these

[OT] Bacula offsite replication
Hi everyone,
I have updated my backup server to CentOS 8.2. It runs bacula performing
backup on disks. I would like to replicate backups on another offsite
machine.
I read about the ability to configure a new storage daemon in the
offsite location and create a Migration/Copy Jobs. If I'm not wrong, it
replicates only volumes but not replicate the catalog. I will try this.
Another way to

Looking for hosting advice
Hello everyone,
I''ve got a Rails app that''s going to replace an in-house application,
where the customers are used to having to deal with maintaining their
own servers and data. As these are non-IT customers, maintaining
servers and data is a long way from their core business and thus quite
costly for them. I''m hoping to slice their costs by removing the
requirement

Offsite hosted backup solutions
Given all the vendors that provide this service with both Windows and
Linux clients, Code42 is the only one I am aware of that supports sets.
For me, this was essential to prioritize urgent data over low risk changes
in the event a disaster occurs while a large directory is taking days to
upload. I would use sets with priorities and any changed data that was
important would interrupt data of

[OT] Bacula offsite replication
Hi Leroy,
How I can confirm that during rsync transfer corruption are not encountered?
Thank you in advance.

I am trying to use an ICW-1000G wireless handset connected to an asterisk

The user is working from an offsite location and it appears that the
device is not sending out keep-alives or stun.
The manufacture is not being of assistance at all. I am wondering if
anyone has worked with these units or has any ideas of what I could do to
make them work.

rsync is great
I'm not on the list but I just wanted to throw my positive feedback out
there. I've been using rsync to backup work that I generate within a
lab to an offsite system. If I lost this data ...
So great.
In standard community fashion, though, I want to throw an idea out
there. It would be nice if there were an option like:
--delete-if-too-old
Currently I run a cron job which copies

Off-Site Extensions That Would Show As In-Use?
Hello, list!
I'd like to create an extension that points to an offsite location (a
number on the PSTN), the purpose of which would be to see if that
offsite location is still on a call forwarded to it by Asterisk. This
way a receptionist could choose to transfer calls to a mobile phone only
if it's finished with the last call the receptionist forwarded to it.

--link-dest not working on remote server (running daemon)
Hello,
I have read through the list of previous issues regarding this issue but
haven't been able to resolve mine. I apologize in advance for the long text
and am probably doing some simple typo. I have two servers in my setup:
*Server 1*
Doing rsync with --link-dest daily and working as expected. I'm getting the

Best USB Handset and Softphone Combination
I have a client that want to try the softphone with USB handsets route
to see if hardphones will even be needed. I always push for hardphones
(Polycom) so I am not sure about softphones or USB handsets.
This is going to be for a 300+ seat call center onsite and many offsite,
I plan on using OpenVPN for the offsite machines.
Any advice on softphones, handsets, or practical experience with

Need information about "--stats" output.
Hi All...
I use rsync to backup most of my servers to an offsite co-located server.
I've been using this setup for about a month or so now and have been
generally pleased with the operation as a whole.
But one thing bothers me:
I use the following command to actually do the transfers:
rsync -ae ssh --stats --delete /source/path
offsite.server.name:/destination/
Which then in turn spits

Building an On-Site and Off-Size ZFS server, replication question
Good morning.
I am in the process of planning a system which will have 2 ZFS servers, one
on site, one off site. The on site server will be used by workstations and
servers in house, and most of that will stay in house. There will, however,
be data i want backed up somewhere else, which is where the offsite server
comes in... This server will be sitting in a Data Center and will have some
