x-lite with wireless connection
Hello This might not be a 'pure' * question, but it is relevant to general VOIP technology. I tried x-lite on my notebook with wireless connection(802.11). The software has been tested with the fixed line connection. It worked fine to call through *. When using wireless connection, it is clear on my side using notebook; however, there is loud noise on the other side of the call which uses

CentOS 5.3 - Activating laptop wireless card
I've just installed CentOS 5.3 on my Dell laptop and it seems to have detected and set-up my wireless card (BCM 4311) correctly as eth1. However, so far I haven't been able to activate it and have read the wiki http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless#head-320d6fcf09b7e16e0b15d19ef76adcb023a95938 which indicates that this card isn't actually supported in CentOS - but there has

[Bridge] Bridging a wireless/wired LAN and a PPPoE connection
Hi all, I'm trying out bridging for my wireless and wired LAN, so that they can both use my PPPoE connection. Here's the network structure, pretty easy: darjeeling (192.168.1.7) ringo (192.168.1.3) (mtu 1500) (mtu 1500) \ / \ wlan0 <--br0 (mtu 1500)--> eth1

Kernel Panic with wl.ko (Broadcom wireless driver) [CentOS 5.4]
Been experimenting with CentOS 5.4 some more. In order to get my wireless card to work (Broadcom BCM4311) I need Broadcom's wl.ko driver (http:// www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php). It compiles fine after the necessary modification in typedef.h, loads and wireless works. However, as soon as I put some load on that interface (scp something from another machine, download

AMR vs Speex on wireless networks.
In order to develop a Voip application, today i should make it robust to bit-errors over wireless networks. This is an actually lack of Speex, infact what i've understood is that if a packet arrives corrupted, i must pass NULL to the decoder in order to let it know. My target is to use UDP (with checksum field disabled) and exploit also corrupted packets giving them to the AMR codec. Otherwise

QoS in wireless networks
Hello, I''m trying to configure several wireless routers with QoS support. The idea is to implement differentiated services so that VoIP traffic gets the maximal priority, then video, control traffic, interactive data traffic and best-effort traffic. I have seen that CBQ used to be chosen as qdisc for implementing bandwith share in DiffServ but now HTB is preferred because it is

testing wireless security
I have been playing around with 3 ath based FreeBSD boxes and seem to have got everything going via WPA and a common PSK for 802.11x auth. However, I want to have a bit more certainty about things working properly. What tools do people recommend for sniffing and checking a wireless network ? In terms of IDS, is there any way to see if people are trying to bruteforce the network ? I see

802.11 phone review: WiSIP
Hello - Here's my first impression review of the first SIP 802.11 phone. I got my hands on the "first" one sold, so that perhaps makes me the first person to have a real 802.11 SIP phone commercially in the US interworking with Asterisk. Whee! Can someone point me to other commercially shipping phones to prove me wrong?

looking for 802.11 SIP phone
While I have found a few 802.11 cordless SIP phones, It's not ovious how they select which network to associate with. What I'm looking for is a 802.11 SIP phone that will auto detect the closest wireless network(s), offer a list to select from, then auto configure itself using dhcp. If you think about it this could be quite handy when strolling around in populated areas. Could someone

Problem with wireless router
Hello, I am using wireless N on a DLink-655 wireless router. It is the "A" hardware version with the latest firmware. I am using a channel that no one in my vicinity is using, according to iwlist. I checked the Statistics from the router web interface and they are shown below for a period of less than an hour. It looks like the errors are excessive, especially the "RX Packets

Recommend a USB 802.11 dongle?
I ALMOST bought a dongle on sale at ecost without checking. There is a driver for the CP Technologies adapter, but not as an rpm, it seems. Madwifi.org says no USB support. Though there is some discussion of using the ndiswrapper driver. So which to use? Anyone out there with any success?
