Multipath Multirouter - Can it be done?
Currently I have a setup that involves connections from several different providers ranging from 6 mbit DSL''s to 10 mbit fractional DS3 connections tied together to provide multipath high availability internet in our area for schools and businesses. We recently extended our coverage to another area which has several other ISP''s. The box that is doing multiwan right now is the

Multi-homed faq or docs needed
I tried to implement a multi-homed box using this faq 4.2.1 split access http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Adv-Routing-HOWTO/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html But it says table is invalid. Can someone tell me what the difference is in Centos? I assume the FAQ is leaving out how to add tables to the iproute files? I am trying to have eth0 and eth1 service two different subnets for apache and not act as a

the routing cache and route selection; is this correct?
Hello all, I do not read C very well (especially kernel C). Though I have tried to muddle my way through an understanding of what''s going on in fib_hash.c, fib_rules.c, and route.c, I have not succeeded to my satisfaction, hence my post. I''m trying to document the general process of route selection, and have come up with the following overview. Could somebody point out any

Newbie question - RPDB, policy routing etc...
Hello all, I am going through the LARTC howto to understand how the iproute2 works. But some concepts like Policy Routing, RPDB etc are not clear to me. I am pretty new to iproute, beeing using route command for long... From what I understand 1. rules (ip rule) tell how to select packets for routing and route (ip route) tell where to route the selected packets. 2. A collection of rules is

having should_receive expectation for things that happen in setup
Hi! The following example doesn''t work for me: http://pastie.caboo.se/41732 However, if the call to msg() happens in the specify block after the expecation and not in the setup, it will pass. Why is this? I thought the setup method was there to actually ''construct'' the context and the specifications are some kind of "postconditions" that only need to be

Interface bound routing
Hi, I''m sorry for "novice"-level question, but I hope your expert advice will save me many painful hours running after my own tail... Let assume I have Linux box with eth0, eth1 and eth2 interfaces. Each one has IP assigned from different network. By default, IP address associated with eth0 is chosen as default routing. My application creates thee TCP sockets and explicitly

Multi-ISP :- Multi-Wan Broadband Router Appliance VS Multiple eth Linux routing
Hi all I need to use three 512 kbps aDSL internet connections, in a load-sharing, link-failover scenario. Presently I am using Ipcop with a single DSL. Now, I seem to have two options...one..an Edimax quad wan port adsl router, with firewalling and NAT and second install a minimal linux distro for routing...something on the lines of LARTC....and keep NATTING, IDS & Firewalling on the linux

multi-wan / multi-path
Is tinc able to use multiple gateways for outgoing connections? Or is it restricted to the default gateway? In other words... If I have a branch office with a cable connection and a dsl connection, could it use both in an active/hot-standby fashion?

simple(?!?) source routing
Hi, I''ve set up a Linux box with redhat on to act as an internet gateway and I''m running into a few problems. Its got two adsl modems connected to it, both connected to seperate 512kbs lines. Now I''ve followed the simple source routing in the advanced routing howto to the letter but it doesnt work. I''ve got it autoconnecting on startup and redhat puts ppp1

No upstreams on domU, but downstream works fine
Hi all, I asked about this in the ##xen irc channel a few days ago and had some help, but no luck. The problem is that my dom0 connects fine with WAN, but all domUs do not always connect to external hosts (though they can communicate in the LAN and with the gateway). I''ll try to post as much relevant information as I can think of and what all I have tried I disabled all dom0 and

SMTP Mailer is KILLING me
Folks, the first person to figure this one out will make my day. Let''s just say I''ve tried everything for the past few hours, and I''ve become frustrated to the point of forum-posting. So...ready? Here goes... I keep getting this error: "553 This SMTP server requires authorisation. The password you''ve entered is incorrect" ->

Slight OT: Multi WAN Router and SIP Calls
We are drafting a plan for a new office setup. The users will be using Cisco 7940 phones registered to a remote Asterisk server. We were thinking of using two ADSL lines coming into a Multi-WAN router to allow for load balancing. As opposed to setting up half the users on one ADSL line, half on the other. It would seem that this could cause a problem where a given phone could be registered out

Trying to plan for new multi-isp setup
I''m trying to plan out a new configuration for our new multi-isp setup. Part of what is confusing me is the asymmetry between the two setups. Our current ISP provides us with a router and our first public IP is used by its LAN port. Our new provider is not providing a router and I want to user our shorewall box as the router. I have 4 ports on it (currently configured for local,

hexadecimal fwmark and fwmark mask
Hi list, I''m new to this list, I just subscribed because I have some ackward about IPRoute2. First, while playing with NetFilter'' "MARK" target, I met a weird behaviour once I tried to use this marks in the RPDB : the packets where successfully marked, but it seemed that RPDB didn''t succed in matching them (for those who already know the answer, I only used

Dovecot sieve with postfix.
Hi all, I can't get dovecot working with postfix. If I leave virtual_transport set to "virtual", I can send and receive messages just fine in roundcube. If I set virtual_transport to "dovecot", I can only send messages in roundcube, but incoming messages never arrive. Seems I can't get dovecot-lda to work. I need dovecot-lda in order for sieve filters to work. Any
