We have about 4 servers connected to an APC UPS. The UPS only has one UPS connection. So my question is, in a power outage how do i get all my servers to safely shutdown? Do i run a USB hub? Do i write a script on the one machine connected to turn off all the other machines? I'm confused. Jamie

I have a new-ish APC Back-UPS XS 1500G connected via USB. It's giving me a "ups.alarm: No battery installed!" error. I also installed and configured apcupsd to give that a try and it's giving me the same error. I found out that NUT didn't talk by default to apcupsd, and there was a driver created relatively recently (apcupsd-ups), which filled in that gap. The version I found on my FreeBSD/FreeNAS system seems to imply that there is more to come to that driver (0.04)

Hi, We use Nexenta which has recently implemented a UPS plugin using NUT code. The one problem is that it can't look at APCUPSD servers for APC information. We have a UPS per a rack and a APCUPSD server per a UPS. Without this functionality, we would have to be directly connected to the UPS's for our SAN and we can't do that.
