Desperately need help with multi-core NIC performance
Hi,
I am running a VOIP application on Centos 5.3. It is a 16 core box
with 12 G of mem and all what it does is passing packets.
What happens is that at around 2K channels running g711 ( 64k) codec,
all eth0 is used up and no more traffic can go through.
I have checked google and it talked about interrupt scheduler.
does anyone know how to configure the kernel to allow it to use all
CPSs for

Hi everyone,
has anybody successfully integrated the patches from
http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh/ into openssh, and maybe produced
a .spec file for this purpose that s/he is willing to share?
thx,

Broadcom chips: TOE or no TOE?
Last time I checked (but that was a while ago) TOE (TCP Offloading
Engine) was not supported very well, at least not with Broadcom chips.
Did anything change in that regard recently?
More specifically, the chip I'm looking at is Broadcom NetXtreme II 5709
and the distribution is 5.3
Any luck with proprietary drivers? Any problems those drivers may cause
with bonding?

Hi,
Does OCFS require NAS hardware to run or does normal PC hard disk work?
Thanks,

Games in R
Hi everybody - this is an oddball question.
I wonder if anybody has programmed any games in R, such as Sudoku,
Tic-Tac-Toe and the like. Or even a flight simulator...
R mateys! Let's make some t-tests!

Problem with running Centos 5.2 on Dell Optiplex 330
Hi,
I am havind deep trouble with a bunch of our newly arrived Optiplex
330 as it can't run Centos 5.2 property.
The installation works fine, but when it boots up, it can't be
connected to the network. I am getting error saying " link is not
ready" when doing system-config-network. I check lspci and it can
detect the network controller no problem. The light next to the cable

Rails on straight CGI - doable?
I''m planning on dipping my toe into the rails ocean after having
lurked here for a bit. From what I gather, rails *WILL* work on a
straight CGI based server setup, it''s just slow, right?
Since this is going to be for my own enlightenment, I just need to
confirm(/deny) it''ll work at all right now; I''ll work on the "fast"
later.

Icecast on Raspberry Pi
Is it possible to make Icecast run, for serving no more than 16 listeners, on Raspberry Pi? I simply want to dip my toe into the Linux universe, and this would be a fine excuse for me to try RP if it's doable. Thanks.

Help on multi-line plot
Hello R-Users
I am struggling with this line plot, it might be simple but I am missing
something here.
First of all I want to make multiple line plots across seasons
(DJF,MAM,JJA,SON) for 12 variables (here, called nodes) and fill them with
the node.
So that season=x-axis, node=line col and freq=y-axis.
My plot currently links all DJFs, MAMs, JJAs and SONs, however I will like
them to be

'umount' of multi-device volume hangs until the device is physically un-plugged
I''m currently playing around with native btrfs multi-device support in
systemd. There might be a few "hotplug issues" to solve, here is the
first one:
A mounted (otherwise unused) multi-device volume (USB multi-slot card
reader), hangs at:
$ umount /mnt
with (fedora) kernel
3.6.0-0.rc5.git0.1.fc18.x86_64
Any idea what to look for or what to try?
Thanks,
Kay

How to give user a prompt before connecting thecall
Yes it is.
I'm remote at the moment so I can't send you the code but google for mobile remote receiver and you'll find what you are looking for.
Lots of people do it so they don't have calls to cell phones picked up by voicemail.
Cheers

TCP offload cards in linux
Anyone have experience with any? I've been having a real hard
time finding info on any cards that actually support this under
linux. (most of the cards work but I don't see drivers that
actually offload the TCP stack)
I have seen some comments where kernel developers don't like the
idea as well.
I'm running CentOS 4.6 64-bit on a dual proc quad core system with
8GB memory.

ztdummy problem causing playback () to fail
Hi, I am having problem with my Asterisk installation and find out it

multi-homed samba PDC and NetApp filers
We are having a problem getting a NetApp filer to re-join a samba
domain after a move to a new network. The filer worked fine with
samba before the move. Apologies in advance for the long missive.
I've tried the following:
- re-running the CIFS setup program on the filer
- removing the problem filer's samba account, replacing it, and
re-running the setup program on the filer

Strange browser displays with 5.x on Dell GX-260
I had been running CentOS 4.x for quite some time with no problems.
Apparently I stubbed my toe when installing CentOS 5 final.
Symptoms: various web sites are not properly displayed in Firefox 3.0.1
(or predecessors). In particular, cnn.com and any calls to Google
display with a screen full of ascii characters rather than images. When
I look at "page info" within Firefox, it

Systemd and network startup/shutdown ?
I've just started to dip my toe in the water with CentOS 7 - and have
started looking at porting custom CentOS 6 init.d/xinetd/whatever
scripts and configs to systemd, but notice that CentOS 7 appears to use
/etc/rc.d/init.d/network as the method for starting/stopping the network
Is this correct - or am I missing something?
Thanks

OT: Problems updating OS to deal with fading R support for Ubuntu Hardy Heron...
Evening folks:
Not sure where this fits into the picture so bear with me for a few
moments while I think out loud to lay out the particulars of my problem.
-would love to be employed using R for a living but so far I have just
worked with it on my home machine to develop a basic level of skill with
it.
-I run Ubuntu linux 8.04 LTS on a machine with a 2.5GHz Celeron
processor and 1.2GB of memory.
