VoIP PoE phones for restaurant
Greetings,
I mailed the list regarding an intercom system some months ago and we
came to the conclusion that I should purchase a Polycom 501 phone.
I'm now considering the purchase for this year, and I'm now wondering
between the Polycom 501 and the 320 for the intercom.
I don't need the spare ethernet on the phone because I would like to
have my voice network separate from my

2 way intercom recommendation for restaurant kitchens
Greetings,
I need a 2 way intercom for separate kitchens to communicate without
having to walk back and forth.
The speaker has to be loud but clear, not distorted. Sometimes the
kitchens can be noisy.
It needs to be easy to use.
It needs to be easy to clean.
It would be nice if it used POE.
Eventually I would like the kitchens to be able to dial different parts
of the restaurant when I

Multi-Seat using Thin Clients
Hello
I have been wanting to set up a multi-seat system built around my linux
desktop. Several years ago I set up a multi-seat system using X11. It
difficult to setup and cause many different system errors. My new
desktop supports VT-d but the VGA passthru is still too experimental for
me at this point.
I have looked at the USB display link but sounds like there is a
performance issue with

Winbind: can't log in as domain user
Sorry about the lengthy post - I'm putting as much in here as I can in
hopes that someone can help me ferret out the problem.
Basic problem is that domain users can't successfully log into the
linux box. I'm trying to set this box up as an ltsp server
authenticating against our existing AD (although this is actually in a
test lab - I didn't really want to trash anything real

ltsp kernel crash
Hi,
I've been using pxe-enabled nic's with an lzpxe-etherboot image generated
by rom-o-matic.net to boot a ltsp.org kernel, with dhcp 3 to use if statements to determine which filename
option he gives to the pxe/etherboot dhcp client.Explained at
http://www.ltsp.org/documentation/pxe.howto.html
This works perfectly, except for the fact that you can't use 1 etherboot pxe image for

ipconfig and boot filename option
Hi,
ipconfig is used in ltsp (thin clients) initramfs. Some of the users
have to have 2 dhcp servers in ltsp environments, so they hit on this
problem:
The first dhcp request is from the pxe rom boot code. This code
ignores any dhcp offers that don't have a filename field. So they
always get the correct address, from the ltsp server.
The second dhcp request (in initramfs) is done by

Upstream vendor's diskless vs LTSP
Hello all,
I have a customer that insists of using upstream vendor's diskless
(system-config-netboot) rather than LTSP. The reason is that he wants to use
a 100% packages from the vendor, not from LTSP or any other party.
I try the vendor's diskless system, and although it's very simple to setup, it
lacks the support and/or documentation whereas LTSP is very good in it.

Thin client server setup
Hi,
I am thinking of settting up a thin client server setup.
I would like to set it up to work with linux and windows.
I was going to use Symbiont but it says it needs a different version of
linux to install. Has anyone used it with Centos before?
Would it be easier to just install LTSP and set it up.
I would like to b have a small box that does the dhcp and then allows
users to logon to

Question regarding config, not sure if syslinux or tftp-hpa related
Good morning everybody,
I'm pretty new to syslinux & tftp-hpa, and so I'm not quite sure where
my question belongs to, but I'll try it here first.
I want to enhance the network services by offering a LTSP (just for the
case the pc or laptop doesn't work for some reasons). And so, for
testing, I added a second linux-based system (lets call it system-b).
Currently the tftpd

Thin client system for X applications?
We're looking for what, years ago, I'd describe a s a X terminal --
something small, simple (and ideally cheap) that a user could display
X applications on. I guess they're now called thin clients, but they
now seem geared as seats on the web, and for this application we would
need to be able display the results of running a homebrewed X
application from a CentOS system, either

2 DHCP server in one subnet
Hello all,
In the network there is already a W2K server serving as DHCP server for the
network. Then we want to implement LTSP, so we need to setup another DHCP
server, right?
Due to unexpected reason (little by little migration of w98 clients to LTSP),
we need to keep the W2K server running in that network. Can we then have 2
DHCP server in the same subnet, only serving pre-determine clients

newbie thinclient env
i have a lot of questions, maybe you've got some answers. I've got the
following setup :
1 central server ( linux ) , 17 servers ( LTSP ) on different locations,
where each server has a number of thinclients connected to it ( max 6 ) The
central server / 17 LTSP servers are on the internet and share 1 VPN (
freeswan ). It would be nice if the 17 LTSP servers could use asterix on one

Recommended PCIe SATA/SAS Controller?
Greetings all-
I need to purchase a PCIe SATA or SAS controller(non-raid) for a Supermicro 2U system. It should be directly bootable. Any recommendations? The system will be running CentOS 5.4 as an LTSP system. Thanks!

Debugging gPXE -> PXELinux -> LTSP
Hi,
I'm investigating using LTSP for thin clients at my place of work, and
I've encountered a problem that I don't know how to approach. I don't
know if the problem is with gPXE, PXELinux, or the LTSP kernel, but I
think PXELinux is probably the right level to investigate it.
My situation is as follows:
I've installed the LTSP system from Ubuntu Gutsy. I've tested it
