How to resolve SMS/WAP/MMS/VoIP gateways on a shoestring?
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what options I
have for mapping incoming/outgoing SMS messages to/from a telephone
number that I am given by a VoIP provider who does not currently
offer SMSC services?
In other words, Voicepulse, my VoIP provider, provides me with a PSTN
terminated number (hypothetically 222-222-2222). I use my Asterisk
server to handle the calls that

Using icecast you can stream nsv (nullsoft video) with aac+ or mp3 audio.
There is an activex based web client or winamp client... Its better than nothing!

Rewriting the From and Subject from voicemail for a MMS Message to a Cell Phone - like visual voicemail
I would like to send Multimedia Messaging (MMS) email (gateway) to my cell
phone and have the from and subject be the callerid/calleridnam information
from the voice mail message.
I know there is a way to call another perl script or program up when an
email message is written, but I am not a programmer.
I know there could be a perl script or program that could run every minute

Asterisk SMS: Experience with EMS?
Hello *,
I recently started playing around with the "SMS" application. Several of
my SIP clients are FritzBoxes, with SMS capable DECT phones connected
via ISDN or analog line.
So far, SMSing works great: I defined extension 0193010[01] to receive
SMSes, which works well with the default settings for German phones.
Incoming SMS in the morx queue will be parsed by a cronjob and

Execute command after hangup / MWI
Hi guys,
is there any way to execute a command *after* a caller has hung up the
call? Something like
exten => s,1,Voicemail
exten => s,2,AGI(mwi.agi)
I'd like to turn off the MWI on my cellphone (which is done by gammu[1])
Or does anyone know a way to check the state of the MWI from outside,
i.e. with a cron-job? I'm turning on the MWI with the email-notify from
voicemail, but

centos courseware?
does anyone here have pointers or access to courseware that could be
used to teach centos (5.4, i believe)? publicly-available, free C/W
would, of course, be ideal, but if you have some decent training
manuals that you're willing to license on a per-manual basis, i'm
still willing to chat.

how to build a centos kernel?
a couple folks on the local mailing list were asking about the
mechanics of building a kernel for a centos system, and they seemed to
suggest that there were some intricacies involved as opposed to other
distros. i've never tried it -- is there a trick or something? got a
pointer to the canonical web page that has the directions? thanks.

dm-crypt/LUKS the state of the art for block device encryption?
it's been a while since i've played with filesystem encryption so,
on centos 5.4 (and other linux distros), is dm-crypt/LUKS considered
to be the state of the art WRT encryption? i remember other solutions
like loop-aes and others, but what's considered the gold standard
these days?

the ongoing wait for centos 5.4
at the risk of picking at that scab a bit longer, i'm going to toss
out a comment regarding people still waiting for the public
availability of centos 5.4.
here:
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2009-October/083743.html
we read:
"The last status (from twitter) is 2 days old with the '5.4 is baked!
centos internal network will start syncing up today. Release ~ soon!'.

link to "commercial support" page isn't really helpful
i may be in the position of recommending that a sizable client take
a look at centos as a supported platform in the near future, but if
one goes to the "Support" -> "Commercial Support" page, it reads:
This Section or Page is coming soon.
that is *not* going to give this client any warm fuzzies. from a
promotion perspective, either that page should get some actual
