CentOS7: Setting up ldap over TLS in kickstart file
Hi, I'm facing a problem with setting up LDAP+TLS client authentication in a kickstart script on CentOS7 for several days. Setting up manualy the config with system-config-authentication works but I need to automate this in kickstart for deploying cluster nodes. This show that the server side is running fine. At this time the message is #systemctl status sssd |....

LDAP authentication on a remote server (via ldaps://)
Hello, I have a central repository of users/groups based on OpenLDAP which is working on a remote LAN (servers share users credentials and mount their home directories via NFS). They use non-encrypted ldap restricted to the local network. Now, I have a few servers in our local office and I would like them to authenticate from the remote LDAP server using encryption via ldaps://. (at this stage,

Redhat Authconfig errors
Ok, I've got most everything setup, but I'm not able to confirm pam_ldap and nss_ldap are working properly. (Actually given the examples in SBE, they still appear to be returning information from local files rather than the ldap info.) I wanted to go back and check my authconfig and reset the parameters. However now when I do a authconfig I get this: ---- authconfig --enablecache

NSS ldap problems
I'm having trouble setting up ldap based authenication. I have a virtual (KVM) CentOS 5.4 box set up to authenticate to a 389 (fedora) directory server, and that works fine. However, I set up a virtual box running CentOS 6, and I can't get it to authenicate. I've run authconfig with the appropriate flags, ldapsearch properly finds the data, but I can't log in. /var/log/secure

CentOS6 and pam_access
I just realised that pam_access no longer works under CentOS6 - or it works differently from CentOS5. Under CentOS5, I used this configuration to restrict access to root only: # cat /etc/security/access.conf + : root : ALL - : ALL : ALL # cat /etc/pam.d/system-auth-ac ... account required pam_access.so account required pam_unix.so account sufficient pam_localuser.so

sudo (+ldap+kerberos) not accepting password
So I have this centos 5.10 box which authenticates network users against ldap(authorizing)+kerberos(authentication). And I now would like to have sudo be able to allow admins (netgroup chinbeards) to sudo about. I am not using sssd though (yet). Here is the output of me trying sudo (debug on): [raub at centos5-x64 ~]$ sudo pwd LDAP Config Summary =================== uri

Changing Console Display Settings
Hmm.. after all these years I actually have a monitor on my desk beside me going through a couple of KVMs to our racks. So, I hope to make more use of direct console connections instead of shelling in. But, now.... the text has always been huge and the interface clunky. And after a bit of googling around, and file searching on the system, I can't seem to find where or if there is a way to

kickstart %post not executed
Hi all, I am trying to automate the provisioning of a few VM, dom0 CentOS5 - domU CentOS4.5, the installation goes well but it completely ignores the %post bit in the kickstart: # Kickstart file for a generic VM install url --url http://server/mrepo/centos4-x86_64/disc1 cmdline skipx reboot # Partition information ..... # General system config bootloader --location=mbr keyboard uk lang

wcfxs causing constant CPU spikes
Hi All, I have a problem (at least I think it's a problem) where the wcfxs module causes constant CPU usage spikes. The card being used is a Digium Wildcard TDM400P with 3 FXO modules and 1 FXS (TDM31B). Monitoring my otherwise idle asterisk box (with top) I see once every 3-5 seconds hi (hardware interrupt) spike to 30%-40% and then drop back to 0 again. This is the case wtih both asterisk

Wrapper script for shutdown, passwd, etc. commands
Hello all. Thank you for reading. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I am looking to implement a wrapper script/utility that will prompt for a ticket number before running certain commands. I've used similar scripts in the past on systems that I didn't have admin access. The wrapper would do something like this: [root at vm-helios-019] shutdown -h now

options not being parsed...
With both puppet-0.23.0 and 0.23.1 if I setup just the configuration file puppet.conf, none of the puppetd options seem to get parsed. I first noticed this when monit failed to start/stop services due to the lack of a pid file being generated (and mine is not in one of the usual places). I''m sure that something like the patch attached but I bet it breaks other assumptions :-) Cheers,

Anaconda can't squeeze out the repomd.xml
Greetings. There must be some minor changes to anaconda. I'm getting the error: "Cannot open repomd.xml file...." the file seems to be located in the repodata directory... I'm using the following .cf taken directly from the CentOS 4.4 install : install url --url ftp://centos.westmancom.com/5.0/os/i386/ #cdrom lang en_US.UTF-8 langsupport --default=en_US.UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8

unable to join to a Samba4 domain
I'm trying to join a Windows 2008 to a Samba4 domain. I'm able to ping Samba4 or browse its network shares. Unfortunately, I can't join Windows 2008 to this Samba4 domain - I'm not even asked for Administrator password. Windows 2008 errors with the below message, which roughly translates to: DSN-query for domain "samba4.my.domain" was successful. The query was for

Linux ate my RAM...
Hello everyone, Excuse the title. I'm trying to do something very specific that goes against some common assumptions. I am aware of how Linux uses available memory to cache. This, in almost all cases, is desirable. I've spent years explaining to users how to properly read the free output. I'm now trying to increase VM density on host systems (by host, I mean the physical system, not

[LLVMdev] def-use chains and use-def chains
Hi Duncan Sands, I frankly don't know what a variable gets converted to (SSA register or memory chunk). What I meant is, for example I1: int i, j=10; I2: scanf("%d", &j); I3: i = j + 1; Here I want to know whether the value of j in I1 reaches I3 or not. Best Regards, Srikanth Vaindam you didn't define what you mean by a variable. LLVM has virtual registers which are

Battery condition tools CentOS/Dell
Hello all: Does anyone know of a tool/project that will allow me to read the battery condition (not the charge status) on a Dell laptop battery? Under XP there is a utility that warns that the battery is still holding a charge but that the battery is degraded and should be replaced. Also, not sure if this is possible, but I would like to control how the laptop charges the battery. I tend to
