CentOS 7 on Dell Inspiron with ATI Radeon HD 6320 video card
Hi,
I'm currently installing CentOS 7 on a client's Dell Inspiron laptop.
Here's the video card:

[AMD/ATI] Wrestler [Radeon HD 6320]
Most of the time, I either have to deal with Intel or NVidia graphic
chipsets. As far as I understand, I can choose either the free 'radeon'
driver or the

Monitoring a remote server with Conky ?
Hi,
I've been using Conky for some time, a nifty utility to monitor just
about anything on the PC. Vital things like CPU, RAM, swap, disks,
current song playing in MPD :o)
Here's what it looks like :

using windows ad accounts for centos 5
Hi I read and used the article
http://blog.wazollc.com/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=2 to authenticate my ad
accounts when logging on to cent 5...however, once I edit the
nsswitch.conf file, I can't even log on as root or any local users
anymore. Kinit seems to initialize fine doing a kinit
username at MYDOMAIN.COM , however doing a getent passwd adusername ....it
just sits there in the shell and

Kickstart setup
Is there a way to use kickstart to boot a machine into a manual setup
process? Basically what I'm getting to is this, the machine doesn't not
have a CD drive in it (nor can I add one), but I can boot it via kickstart.
The install media is on the network. What I'd like to do is boot this
machine up and rather than have kickstart do everything for me as far as
installing the OS and

Centos 7: Remove Gnome from GDM options
When you click on the gear icon on the GDM login screen, it provides a list of the available desktop environments so you can pick between them.
Since I exclusively use Mate on this computer, how can I remove the other options from that menu? Earlier today when I logged in the machine decided on its own that what I really wanted was Gnome Classic, so I had to log out to change it back to Mate,

Problems with SATA DVD+-RW drive [SOLVED]
On the system I'm testing with the CD-Rom drive is IDE but the softlink
at /dev/cdrom points to the scsi device and that's not working with the
automounter for some reason. Each time I reinstall I have to delete the
soft link and recreate it pointing at /dev/hda instead.

telnet and Gnome logins
Hello,
I have a thin client user with a regular Gnome desktop that he logs into
everyday. He also telnets from a remote site into the same server that
provides his Gnome desktop. I know, telnet is insecure, but it's all
over VPN, so it's a little better. Also, he's using telnet from Windows
system.
Anyway, management wants a console app to be executed when that user
logs in over

Add /sbin to sudo PATH
Hello,
Does anyone have an idee how to add /sbin to the sudo $PATH environment?
Adding /sbin to .bashrc $PATH isn't really what I want...
I'd like sudoers to be able to run:
$ sudo chkconfig
And not:
$ sudo /sbin/chkconfig
Thanks

Gnome Desktop Screensaver Security Lock Override?
We deployed our first CentOS-4 based workstation this past spring to see
if we can conveniently replace all, or at least most, of our MS-Win based
user systems with Linux boxes instead. Generally this trial unit has
proved a success but there is one lingering problem that I cannot seem to
find a straight-forward answer to: Is there an administrator override to a
user's password protected

which commands do you use to SSL certify your own server?
Hello,
I am going to build an email server on Centos for a small,
private group of users and I just want to encrypt all
communications between that server and the (remote) email
clients of those users (or they browsers, when they use
webmail). Client certificates are not necessary, at least
now.
I understand that to do that I need to create my own SSL CA,
create with it a self signed certificate

(?) Loss of fullscreen mode with freenx-0.5.0-8.c4
I've currently got the nx-1.5.0-1.centos4.i386, freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch, and nxclient-1.5.0-141.i386 packages installed on a couple
of CentOS 4 update 3 systems and I'm getting the same results on all of them. I got the new version of freenx via "yum update" and
it appears to have "broken" fullscreen mode. The connection config file I have been using does have the

Radio software
Hi List,
Does anyone know of any type of radio tuner software available for
CentOS in either 32 or 64-bit versions? The card is an ATI X600. I've
got the video driver from ATI installed, but they do not have any other
user level software available. I think I remember reading something
about some software being available for the BT chipset, but I'm a tad
out of date on that.

GFS
Hello:
I am planning to implement GFS for my university as a summer project. I have
10 servers each with SAN disks attached. I will be reading and writing many
files for professor's research projects. Each file can be anywhere from 1k
to 120GB (fluid dynamic research images). The 10 servers will be using NIC
bonding (1GB/network). So, would GFS be ideal for this? I have been reading
